| So I spin records (who doesnt)... and lately I've been trying to around with FL Studio. I been following tutorials and reading up and whatever, it will come with time. I just read a whole article on MIDI. Basically what I got is that I can load a midi file into a given program and use that pattern but change the synth (or drum) around. Can I and how would I do this in FL Studio (or if anyone can recommend another program). I'm just learning, and I don't have much of a music production background and I think this might help me out a bit, trying to 'recreate' a song I already know than get all lost trying to come up with riffs and loops etc. |

get the synth that you are going to want to use and drag it out so it's a channel. now go to the piano roll view of the synth (right-click> piano roll). in the top left portion of the piano roll view window go to file> import midi file.
ehhh... hope that helps somewhat. |

The way I do it:
1. Insert a synth of my choice
2. Goto the piano roll
3. Ctrl + M
4. Select your midi |

| ugh, if you look through this forum, there's a thread where someone posted a link to a zip file with tons of them. I stumbled on it last night, but didn't download it, and now i can't find it again. |
