This is about the remix compo.

Ok, I have been warned by Luke Terry about the limit of the contestants which puts me in the edge of the abyss.

Like I said before, it would be a big big big job for just the four of us judging 27+ tracks.
But since I have to stick with the rules of the board, then I have to change the judging system, and that will involve each and every one of the members of this site.

What I'm up to, is when the deadline is over, every participant must upload their tracks and send me the links to their tracks. Bit Rate of mp3 must be at 192 Kbps, not less, not more.

Then I'll post the links to the tracks, in a thread made by myself.
There is where the judging begins. The judges will the members themselves, which shall vote for their best remix.
Participants will not be allowed to vote by themselves.

There will be 15 Days for voting, and then the thread will be closed.
Then I will count the votes of each, and announce the winner and give him the prizes.

so, the big question, and this is for all participants in and out of the official list, do you agree with this?

I think you should wait with deciding what judging system to use until you have centainty about the number of entries. I mean.. you could decide what system to use, but I think judging like you mentioned would not be too good, because of the fact that if you remix is #1 you get more listeners. People will listen to remix number 1, 2, 3, and say number 20 and number 27, and then they decide.

When the remixers know what track is his, they will do everything to get their track on top, because there are some nice prizes at stake. So if your network on here is big, you'll win, so to speak.

I agree about the immense work and I think what you should do then is listen to all entries together with someone you know well, and pick the 10 (roughly) best. Or divide the work, make groups and split the entries and choose, say, 5 best per group. It's not hard to make a distinction between a bad remix and a good remix, and both sorts will be delivered. The bad sounding one leaves, and the very good sounding one stays. Most people will agree with that, because they hear the same in those rough lines. Just make sure no track what could win this competition is excluded. When two remixes, say #10 and #11 on your rough 'ranking' are very close together, qualify of disqualify them both. Then you can put a team of judges who signed up for this, anybody, to do the judging job for the 9, 10, or 11 tracks left. And with this method counts: the more (variety of) judges the better the projection of the actual ranking afterwards.

With this system the amount of work is reduced a lot and still works.. it works even better IMO and it's fair, plus you dont have to limit any of the participants.

NO NO NO

Last remix comp we had 10 judges, no1 knew who they were.. You going to do the same.

Everyone is allowed to be a judge but only YOU may pick who will be the 10. So they have to pm you first.

ABout the limit, why are you worrying? Do you actually even think that more than 20 people will finish a remix? haha no man, maybe 15 at tops.

The judges will give points on based taste and music experience , they also have to write a SHORT but detailed review. You will post all these word files later after the remix comp with just the name.."Judge 1, Judge 2, etc. "

If someone wants to be a judge then they should know they mite have lots of work...so don't be a judge just for FUN but be one just because youe SERIOUS about it. BUT i seriously doubt the amount of remixes will be overthe 20..and even so i doubt that all the remixes will be good. Crap remixes don't require long judging sorry thats how it is.

And you will also grant the judges at least 3 weeks to judge..its not like they have to do it in 1 day.

i think it would be unwise to allow just anybody to vote. i am definately submitting my rmx but if i wasnt i would probably vote.

but i am in no way experienced in fully reviwing a track and neither are a large number of people who may vote.

i aggree with the fact that there wont be a massive amount of finished rmx's submitted so maybe wait until you know the exact number of rmx's submitted.

however, say if there were 50 submissions there would be no way that your average joe will bother listening to all of them so many tracks would miss out on coverage.

i recon the seiving out of less worthy rmx's would work and cut down on the time it takes you to review the tracks. hopefully mine will be worthy...:(

anyways, thanks for the time you are putting in PDM. should all work out in the end.

I think you should wait until we're closer to the deadline to decide on a judging system. By then you'll have a better idea of how many entries will be submitted.

Btw, the track I sent earlier was 256kbps I think, is that a problem?
Trancevision
why not two steps of voting?

1. Let the forum members vote at first and make a preselection...

2. The best 9 tracks should be judged by PDM, Yahel and the other one I forgot.
PDM
I haven't decided the voting system, but is official now, anyone can enter.
And Massive, take a look what is on the line, take a look at the prizes, I'm confident more than 20 people will deliver.

Unlike previous contests, there are real prizes here. ;)

how about that the 4 of u settle down with tracks is the top 10.. then we bring in 6, or 10 other judges.. and they judge the top 10 of the top 10..
PDM
No, I don't want to involve various pre-eliminary judging, which will make things worse, I just need one more judge to carry a judging system I was suggested by pm.

The important thing about this, is that everyone can enter now.

Ok I guess all is been taken care of now.. just dont do open voting, and I hope the suggestion you were PMd makes it fair. :D
