The most shocking possibilities happen in real life, not in art

I'm kinda shocked. Although this is a quite long story, hopefully it will be some easy reading and, if you can't be arsed to read all the way through it, there's a summary by the end of the post (which doesn't have all the drama, but helps you understand what's going on).
All names but mine - Lira, and my girlfriend's - Kaoru, have been changed for privacy sake. You all know my name anyway, and there is no point in changing my girlfriend's name, is there? :p
» #1 Look-a-likes
It's a survival technique, I reckon. Whenever something new appears in front of us (images, sounds, creatures), we start making thousands of comparisons with whatever we had seen/heard/dealt with before. There were some German gestalt nutters who got seriously deep in this sort of study actually. Come to think of it, it's does kick ass, but we get some innacurate conclusions every now and then anyway, so how do we know?
Friday, at night, Kaoru and I went to a pizza parlor, where a friend of hers was celebrating her birthday. The place was completely packed, we could barely walk in there. However, amidst the crowd, I saw this guy who looked exactly like the brother of my godson. Except for the forehead, otherwise I could swear they were the same person. And we ended up finding sits beside him, so we started doing what people do in restaurants: chatting and eating.
His name was something like "Carlos Hikari". He did have narrow eyes, so a Japanese name wouldn't sound as strange if his name didn't mean "shine", which is utterly "feminine" both here and in Japan. The guy he was talking to was openly gay, so I just thought it was something related to that. He was silent most of the time though, and one of the few exceptions was after we had all paid the bill when he said: "Hey, you're going to the rural area, aren't you? I live near Kaoru, it seems, do you guys want a lift?"
» #2 Going Home
My car was in the repair shop and we were wondering indeed about how we would get to Kaoru's farm, where we would spend the weekend, so we accepted his offer.
The gay guy was hilarious - I never got to know his name, so sorry if it sounds offensive, and "Hikari" was very focused on driving, so he didn't speak much (again).
Being from the rural area, and living close to her farm, Kaoru thought she might know someone from his family. Politely, she asked whether "Hikari" was his surname. Then we had a rather strange answer:
"No, not really, I don't know what my surname is. I mean, I do have my mother's surname, Pereira, but I've never met my father".
"Huh? Did he...?"
"No, he's not dead. My mother and my father had an affair, even though my father did have a fiancée... my mother was more of a step buddy."
"Blimey... and then?"
"When my mother got pregnant, so did his fiancée, and, well, he made his mind. My mother is Brazilian and his fiancée was Japanese so his family would obviously support the fiancée and would as well get rid of my mother."
"So you're clueless about his identity?"
"I do know his name is 'Patrício Tetsuo' but my mother hates him to death, and told me not to look after him. The only reason she added 'Hikari' to my name was because she thought... I don't know, she excepted me to have narrow eyes, so I would seem to be less of a bastard child. Hey, you could be my sister - I'm 19, how old are you?"
Kaoru: "I'm 26, sorry mate"
"Oh"
» #3 Patrício Tetsuo
What puzzled me is the fact that, as I previously mentioned, the guy did look like my godson's brother. The name he said, Patrício Tetsuo, is indeed the name of my godson's father. The guy is 19 years old... so is my godson. However, my godson's mother was Cantonese-blooded actually (although they all look the same anyway :p). The cities are 50km apart, but if I date my girlfriend who lives there, he could as well have an affair in such place.
His father is your average hard-working clumsy guy though, a guy you'd never expect such thing from, although he was part of a major Brazilian band in the 70's, which doesn't help much to his stereotype. A hippie turned into a businessman? Maybe.
As we say in Portuguese, I've got a flea behind my ear. The pieces seem to fit perfectly, yet I can't be sure of anything. And it's my own godson. The thought of not being able to investigate it bugs me, although it might be better this way, right?
» Summary
- I met a guy who looked like my godson's brother.
- He's a bastard child.
- He said the name of his father is the same name of my godson's father.
- Every conclusion was based on "impressions" rather than "conclusions".
What would you do if you were in my shoes?
edit: Spelling, but probably there are more errors anyway :p |

seems like you might be on to something,
but that being said...
can you be sure, and do you have the resources to enliven your search?
the world is a crazy place, and anywhere you go you are likely to run into the least expected people and the least expected circumstance.
beyond that - its either a curious possibililty or something bigger than yourself or i.
pics or stfu? thats all i can offer| |

I don't have pics of Carlos (I do have a picture of my godson's brother, but the quality is hideous).
Indeed it's a Jerry-Springer-like situation. The only persons I've talked about it so far were Kaoru and her friend (the one who invited us), who said she would "investigate" (probably nchs09-style).

| You live in the Twilight Zone. Soon this bastard son will hatch his plot against mankind in a diabolical scheme to overthrow all the world's leadership and reign over humanity because his mutant race is sustained by the unique combination of amino acids found in human muscle tissue. That is, unless his 16-year-old neighbor videotapes him glowing green in his mutant form with a webcam and thwarts his plans by alerting the FBI, one of the two agents dispatched from which is a mutant scum as well. But in the end he's defeated and you'll be treated to a very interesting and thought provoking rhetorical statement, delivered by a sexy disembodied voice. |

| Only if he catches you looking through his personal belongings about 65% of the way into the episode. |

I would confront him. Eventhough your family personally does not want you to, i would anyway and just not mention it to them. Being that he has never met you before I am sure he probably has not done anything to you personally to harm you so why not.
This situation may happen to me one day as well as I have been informed now of 3 possible half siblings from my fathers side so I have kind of prepared myself for it and made my descision in advanced. Eventhough I hate my father his other children have done nothing to me so I will not hold his actions against them but I will however warn them about all of his manaical behaviors in the past and advise them that when dealing with him they should be careful. |
