Ok, agreed... but if you give them the rights of an adult then (if a crime is commited) be sure to have them tried as an adult. But we can't assume that they'll cause crime either... that's not a fair statement.
Yes I remember when I was 15.. and if I was ever out past 11, I was safely at home or at a friends house... NOT on the streets of Toronto. I spend a lot of my weekends out in Toronto until the wee hours of the morning light and I've seen FAR more than any pre-teen should see, heaven forbid, be subjected to as a victim.
I'm all for freedom and democracy, but sometimes the judgement of a young teenager can sometimes lead to some bad things. That's not to say adults don't make the same mistakes, but at least they can be held accountable for their actions.
(and yes.. Parents SHOULD be taking responsibility of their kids... but unfortunately there are far too many that don't. "Should" is a nice word for hoping something will happen) |

Freedom of peaceful assembly is a right protected under the Charter.
Yes, juveniles make mistakes. That is a well-acknowledged process of living, learning, and growing. Treating an entire group based upon their age as criminals who cannot be trusted is not a step towards a peaceful and just society. |

when i was 15 i used to go to all ages clubs. Most people i knew never caused any problems. In fact this helped keep us out of trouble. If this passes we are one step closer to communism.
Every day i awake in this country the government is finding new ways to restrict how we act, what we say and what we do. It's mostly why i am starting the emmigration process. |

same here with my friends but we definatley still got into trouble on the way to the club and the way home by getting drunk so young |

so whats the worst you did? toss a few eggs at something? All ages clubs used to keep us out of trouble. I dont think they even have many all ages nights anymore and if they do they are all thug wannabe nights.
Forget the kerfew. Lets just get rid of the young offenders act. Im sure this will take care of 80% of the petty crime out there automatically. |

I think it is a great idea....there is no reason why kids under 16 need to be out past 11. The only things they can do after 11 is get in trouble. |

with the way kids are today and their attitudes for the most part.. how are parents suppose to be responisble for that? Kids generally don't have much respect for anything anymore (not all though)
My curfew at 16 was 11pm and yeah I hated it at the time, but I was also allowed exceptions at times.. I think that is a great idea for these kids to be curfewed. They have no reason to be walking the streets all night long anyhow cuz there is nothing to do past 11 for a 16 yo anyhow.
If they proceed with something like this.. it will give parents some piece of mind I am sure as well as maybe it will stop some of this gang related stuff that is happening at such an early age and young offender crimes. |

If the law restricts kids like this they will have no respect for the law.
Look at underage drinking. In countries where enforcement is lax kids actually drink LESS than here. Taboos make kids rebel.
Lets make kids responsible when they commit crimes instead of letting them off the hook. My friends and i stopped egging houses on our 18th birthdays because we knew after that we could actually get into trouble. OK egging houses and murder arent the same thing but you see how young people tend to think? |
