Hey gang!

For those of you who do mastering on your own works, or even for others.. what's your price to master a single track? put into consideration that it'll make airplay, compilation release, etc, and such and so forth?? (USD or CDN prices plz)

Whould any1 happen to know how much the high-end pro studios charge for mastering as well??

I hate to sound as though I'm advertising myself (I am, but then again, you asked), but my mastering rates are US$35, or €28 per track. Check out Atlantean Records - digital audio mastering for details, or contact me via IM, the details of which can be found on my contact page. I don't claim to run a professional $50,000 mastering house, but I do have semi-professional equipment and a respectable amount of experience, having worked on a handful of mastered releases and climbing.

Higher-end studios usually charge around double my rate.

wow :eyes: that's a damn good price. I'll have to look you up when I'm too frustrated to do it myself ;)

higher end studios do charge a higher price, and thats because mastering should ONLY be done in a high end acoustically treated studio

couldn't have said it better myself.
mastering is a very simple equation, you mostly get what you pay for :)

Just make sure ur mixdown is up to scratch before thinking about mastering,;)
Mr Rogers
vengeance-mastering list of prices: number of tracks: price / track:
1 Track 65,00€
2 Tracks 60,00€
3 Tracks 55,00€
4 oder mehr Tracks 50,00€

This is from Vengance...pretty descent price.
Tom_cowan
The question is how do you know whether your mixdown is upto scratch?

I mean, i know you can't polisha turd, but from people that have had tracks mastered or mastered tracks before how much does it change the track? Is it really noticable? or only slightly?

dRale
hahah yea you can't polish a turd thats why you don't send a turd to be mastered, you send a mix in when you are happy with it, and mastering does make a huge difference...what you pay for is the acoustics of the studio where its being done and the engineer doing it

oh those sweet mastering plug-ins....
Reactance
Yeh,I think the more you work on the tracks sound quality the better, or "less work " there is for the sound engineer who does the mastering. The quiker the mastering can get done ;) well that mine perspective of how it will work any other views on this.....
