IPOD/MP3 Players --- ID Tags?

Just a quick question...
I am buying an IPOD this weekend and am curious...for the title of the track and artist to show up in the display does the MP3 have to have an ID Tag in the MP3?
In other words...if i had an MP3 with "no" ID Tag would MP3 players pick up the file name and display that? or do they need ID Tags to be displayed properly?

You need to fix your ID tags in Winamp or Itunes for it to come out correctly in IPOD.
It's a pain in the ass at first if you haven't changed your id tags on your mp3 files..took me a while.... |

| Well that sucks!!!!...the majority of my MP3s have no tags.....this will take forever....:( |

Yes it takes hours..maybe even days...but once you got it set, the ipod will be really neat and organized, so it's worth it...
then each time you get a new track or set, just change the ID tag right away..
just remember to check in your itunes that not two artist names are the same...there's problems in your ID tags if you got it that way... |
