like i said i only managed to make it once on a saturday, becuase unforunately i'm usually to busy to make it to a club every weekend. i just remember how awesome the music was that nite, funky house all nite long, and it was all the stuff i recognzed minus the appearences on z103. i guess it was just a disappointment since i was anticipating it to be like that. but even when i entered i noticed how much the hype has died down around the main entrance since the first month.

i guess i'm surprised republik can't hold the main room to just house on a saturday nite. obviously urban has spread through this city like locus, but i thought we still had a fairly big house crowd. i think the problem is walter is trying to plz everyone at once, and i'm sorry, but that doesn't work. i knew that the initial idea of making it after hrs passes 2 wouldn't work...you can't fake yourselves into being an afterhours club. to bad EDM has to get shafted with a sunday nite...works out fine now, but not when uni starts up again.

well i hate to admit it but either the house heads are staying home or they really dont exist much anymore.

The americanization of Canada is what it is.

Sadly the only way to draw the existing fans in 2005 is to bring in deep dish or armin van buuren every week and thats just not finacially feasable. The EDM fans that are left arent satisfied with locals anymore like they once were (even though many are just as good or better than internationals) and thats ultimately what has killed off a lot of the scene in Toronto.

Believe me that walter wants more than anyone else a 100% EDM night on Sat but ive seen it myself, It doesnt work anymore. And again i will sya it, there was no support when it was tried when republik first opened. Why? Because Republik didnt bring in deep dish every week. (thats my guess anyways)

this kinda happened randomly for my drunken self on saturday after cherry beach.. technically had cut myself off at shift.. but once we got into republik it just started all over again :eyespop:

first time to republik.. i like the layout, lots of room to get around, the visuals are pretty serious.. and the whole place has the same kinda modern theme going..

frankie, we SERIOUSLY need an 'uber-faced' emoticon.. only thing that could adequately explain republik..

I'm actually super glad I was just drunk at this party.. It allowed me to handle the switch from sweet house tunes to R&B stuff.. (although I didn't know there was a 2nd room playing that already.. :conf: )

Jes really got the crowd (who stayed) into the set.. so much so there were people just running back and forth beside the stage, recording a video on their digital camera.. this was probably my most retarded point of the evening so I don't really remember much other than dancing..

big thanks to Ampz for hookin us up and to Stylez for the champagne ( :wtf: )

If more people came out at the beginning when a lot of cool music was being played on Saturday nights maybe things now would be a whole lot different. But sadly i didnt see much support even from people on this board.

I somehow remember the "cool" music being played "after the vote" with the remaining people left from the top 40 crowd and a questionable dress code in place.

I have trouble supporting someting that I don't agree with:(

i guess the top40 people felt the same way....

But the sunday night electronic events that have been happening lately are amazing. You should come check them out.

First time at Republik and was massively massively impressed. It's a beautiful club.

Thank you Barry and Dennis for getting us in so efficiently haha.

Jay, awesome job on the lights and thanks for letting me stay up in that booth for so long haha - Security did NOT look impressed. :p

Very impressed by Jes' performance. I was unsure of how it was going to work with her as a vocalist - I can't say I've ever seen that at a club before! Also, what a genuine, down-to-earth girl. It's really nice to come across people like that despite all of their success.

Wherever that champagne came from...THANKS! lol

I will definitely be revisiting Republik!
