Iv just started producing not long ago and this is not realy a song im promoting but im asking for help and advice since im just starting out. Its not ment to recreate the original, iv just used it because i want to be able to put things together before i create my own melodies.
I just wanted to know how could i make this better?
What things are missing?
As i said im very new to producing and i know the song isnt very good but advice is what im looking for.
I know its about creating my own style etc etc but their are some guidlines to making music.

hi there.
firstly the way you marketed your tune did not make it sound very interesting. but i listened anyway...
listening:-
at the start the way you have cut up the main melody is weird but it works... the synth tone needs more high eq to make it sound more epic tho. and it sounds nice the way it merges into the full melody.
percussion needs more reverb in places. and more detail... probably twice the amount of layers in it.
i like the bassline when it comes in but that also lacks that 'sound'.
more eq needed ithink. and reverb
overall try adding about four synthy string sounds to follow that bassline to fill the sound out. all slightly different and at different octaves.
problem with this tune is that it was done by the best(mike) and is a tune that just has to sound in his style to really work...
it sounds like your trying to mimmick his style. i love his sound also...
i recon you should try a remake of universal nation.
its fun to rmx and relatively easy. and leaves a lot of scope for imagination.
also keep going with your strange world. it just sounds a bit empty at the moment. just experiment with synth sounds. if you can play with distorsion....
cheers for sharing and ill keep an eye out for more stuff of yours.

Just listening now...
Very basic IMO,
This might sound harsh but you can tell your new to producing.
Firstly though -the beat sounds 'off' if you know what i mean? your ears think it sounds one way but then they adjust to make it sounding different (ie when the snare roll comes in and crashes etc - anyone else hear this?)
Secondly - no real depth to the track, no effects and atmosphere to fill out the track and make it free flowing (just some delay?)
Thirdly - it all seems a bit repetetive because of the above, it doesnt really grab hold of you and keep you interested.
Fourthly you need to listen to more trance to get an idea how things flow, arrangemnts, effects, etc - I do this EVERY time im listening to a track to hear how everything comes together (im getting better but still nowhere near how some people on here get their tracks sounding (clickHERE to listen to Bjorn Corluy - Mindhunt which is without doubt the best thing ive ever heard on TA!)
hope all this helps you in your quest to be a top trance producer my friend!! Keep it up.

I can hear a flanged pad in the background at the intro...
Perhaps a slice of automation that was nelgected?
Either way, it's great to see new producers always coming up and learning the tricks of the trade : D
Everybody's gotta start somewhere, keep it up! |
