I find the abelton sets ive heard have no character may just be as it's the early days yet of people mixing on it, but every mix is the same kind of thing. Atleast i find that withg G and D sets.

well I know armin uses it for all of his ASOT shows these days. It gives a little more freedom to add to what you would normally do with decks. Samples, sounds etc. Makes things sound a little more unique bringing dj and producer a little closer together.

I believe that it has a true live presence and purpose and don't mind seeing dj's/producers pushing this at their live shows.:D

Sasha's new ableton mix from Turkey is pretty good. I would have to agree with you on the 'no presence' thing - but over time i think it's getting better. I was not terribly engrossed by Sasha's set last year in Melburn and i'm sure this is part of the reason. But the turkey set has some great moments – especially when he's backing up tunes that would be very hard to put together otherwise, contrasting from rather atmosheric stuff to slamming basslines and kicks.

Jono was dropping very cool accapellas all over the place last Friday which worked really well - i asked him for a bounce down of some of his on the fly remixes also (there was a great one of DBD – Chanting In The Dark, well using this vocal anyway).

:)

Isn't this the ableton thread?
I think zabiela's new(ish?) album has one cd all done on ableton.

On a side note, Obsession - pump up! :wtf:

as if the mainroom is not interesting enough, the sideroom will feature some of the best melbourne talents in minimal tek and prog breaks.

from lance harrison the DMC rekkid head honcho you can expect the usual german tek, maybe some poker flat, maybe some eulberg as well :)

jono fernandez needs no introduction, will be interesting to see him on ableton (and prolly give HJ a chance to harrass him again)....

keltec.. has been around for ages in the melbourne breaks scene, mixed the futurebreaks CD compilation, fresh from supporting krafty kuts and JDS and one of the resident of the new breaks night pressure!
