I didnt notice. But to me oscar has never been nor cedric named king of the miami scene.
Im not kidding about roger im not the biggest house fans but I have never seen a place that crowded and wild before. |
Here is where I am coming from. Firstly Roger S. is more New York than Miami. When it comes to Miami's house scene, Space is front and center, period. If you talk to househeads around Miami they will tell you Oscar G owns that mainroom and Cedric owns the terrace. In reality LP owns it all and his promotional team makes whoever he wants the alleged "best" DJ in/king of Miami at any time. Example: When they brought in Cedric as a resident everyone was saying "what the hell are they thinking?" Now look at him, he is blowing up big time and touring the world in support of an artist album. Hence my point that Space can make anyone they want the alleged king of Miami. When Space was booking Tenaglia, Tenaglia was king. When they were booking Morillo, it was Morillo. When Oscar was a resident initially it was Oscar, until he left, and now that he is back @ Space it is Oscar again.
I agree with you in that Roger brings a good crowd and his terrace sets are supposedly great. But anyone who has been to Space recently will tell you that even without Roger S. or any other guest that place has been getting incredibly slam-packed on Saturdays. Last week both the mainroom and terrace were filled to capacity, and it was just Oscar G. playing. I think they could have Ronald McDonald or kermit the frog play Space on Saturdays and it would blow up. So for Roger S. they may need a bigger club.
In the end Roger S. will undoubtedly pack the club and a good time may well be had that night. But he will never replace Armin, not on the 1st, 2nd or any other day. ;) |

Paris Hilton < Ronald McDonald or kermit the frog
Maybe another Paris Hilton video shot in night vision should be played on the flat screens.
How sad that now Space is doing the Mansion/Prive thing and playing the celebrity game. |

I do not think everyone hates him. In fact if it wasn't for him God knows what the dance music scene in Miami would have been like betwen 2000 and the present, as he and Space have been responsible for bringing a lot of good talent our way. They were first to book Tiesto, Ferry Corsten and Mauro Picotto in Miami, to name a few. Moreover they gave us Edgar V on both Fridays and Saturdays for almost a year straight.
It is just that when Space first opened and for a while thereafter it was so much more about the music. Along with the big names they also booked DJs a lot of people in Miami did not even know about, giving them exposure and allowing the scene to grow accordingly. Now Space is a staple here in Miami and only has more money to work with and a greater ability to bring lesser known DJs. Yet it seems apparent they will not take any chances, will not think outside the box, and will not book anyone that will not make them a 1,000,000% profit. For example, recently someone posted on here that LP said "no way" to Marco V or Sander Van Doorn. I'll tell you this much, book either one of them on a Saturday and they will destroy that place, money will be made by Space, and people will demand their return.
That is the issue I take with Space/LP. If he wants to make money I completely understand. Yet do not completely forget where you came from, how you got where you are today, and the fact the scene that you profit from will die if people are not exposed to different DJs, sounds and ideas. |

| i don't hate LP. I respect him as a business man. He's pretty young too, i wouldn't mind owning one of the best clubs in the US before i'm 40 either. |
