How to find an agent!?!?

Anyone have any ideas how to find an agent or production group...its a lot harder then i thought...I've already sent out various emails to a variety of production agents however they want someone that
1. has a website
2. is already well known and has done numerous venues
3. lives in their neck of the woods

If anyone has any ideas please throw them my way, I think i'm more than good enough to play at venues, furthermore, please check out my promo cd if you haven't already and please send any questions or comments you might have

PS the promo cd is compiled of older trance hits for the reason that most people are familiar with the tracks allowing them to distinguish the beat matching and advanced mixing.

Why in the world would an agent want to support and help you?

First of all very FEW people or companies are exclusively agents and the few that exist out there include names like Pvd Sasha and the likes. I don't know if you can come anywhere close.

You may want to consider finding a dj group but these are rare due to the egocentric attitude of djs.

Also review your reading skills; you've contacted various agents and you got this reply
1. has a website
2. is already well known and has done numerous venues
3. lives in their neck of the woods

1. If you don't have a website in this day and age that's piss poor.
2. It's essential for them to have a reason to support you. Until you've done anything of value you don't mean squat to anyone.
3. Relocation sometimes is vital.

You have to understand that a lot of big end djs still deal with everything themselves directly or indirectly or at least with some form of assistance because they are busy.

It's your own damn job to get out there and play. No agent is going to hype you up out of the blue.
bananas
a tracklist of your mix?:)

Id agree with Jdat and add the fact that if you wanted an agent, they would pitch atleast 20-30% from your fee's, and if your making under $100 000 a year your kinda outta luck there.

If you find a friend who like PR and promotions, might be better, or again a group of people within your genre and region

yeah u do have a point...but i guess the only way to start playing at venues is actually going to various venues and distributing your demo to random heads and promoters...and i guess that's what i'm going to have to do...=( oh well thx for the reply..and if you go to the website provided you can see a track listing

just running out handing out promos doesn't really do that much either. promoters get tons of demos cuz everyone is a DJ.
throwing events is a hard business and you aren't going to really get anywhere unless you can prove to the promotor that your name will bring in lots of people for their event.
in my opinion your best bet is jsut to get out there and get to know the people throwing events and see if you can help them in running of their events (ie handing out flyers or other means of promotion). eventually if they see you know lots of people and can bring in alot of people you may get a gig in one of the side rooms for some event.
another thing you can do is just throw your own parties. whether these be house parties or your own club night. if your throwing the event your can choose who DJs (you :))
