It's a stick/slider/wheel/knob controlled parameter that bends the pitch!
like eh if you touch the pitch-bend while something's playing you can speed it up or slow it down |

| pitch bend is the cd version of pushing or dragging a record on a turntable. it's a temporary gain/loss of tempo. it's mostly used for making small changes while beatmatching. |

| or a pitch bend on a keyboard is when u slide the slider and it changes the notes from C to C sharp or fom C to B (depending on how it is set).......an example would be atb - till i come...he uses a pitch bend there. |

im just wondering.. all the CD players i have seen with pitch bend all have jog wheels...
Wouldn't it just be easier to use the jog wheel? (or just put one of the features since they do the same function)
so does it really make a difference? |

When you use pitch bend in cd-mixing you use it to temporarily slow down or speed up the record, after it's in sync you let it get back to the tempo (let go of the stick and it goes back to the middle). A jog dial doesn't go back to anything it just. sits there.
I dunno bout cd mixing (did it like once) but this is rite, rite? |

you use the pitch to "set" the pitch of the song to speed it up or slow it down to match the speed of the second song
the jog wheel is used to make ajustments to the pitch to keep the beats in sync |

Im kinda refering to pitch bend buttons...
cos when pressed (+ or -), they go to that small designated +/- then come back to the original pitch.. rite?
And jog wheels do the exact same thing.. speed or slow the track momentarely then it goes back to its normal pitch |

with pitch bending you dont change the value of the pitch at all... you do that with the pitch slider... what pitch bending does is it forwards (+) or slows (-) the track just a bit, which alows you to have the two tracks run at the same time... lets say you have one track, any track, and its playing at 0 pitch... then you cue that same track and you put it to 0 pitch again...
so now you have two identical tracks, one is going to your master and the other to your headphones, and as youre listening to them, you can hear that the track in your headphones is slightly out of sync with the one thats playing to the audience... and you press + or - on the pitch bend to sync the track playing in your headphones to the one playing live...
i think this should help you...
