hmm, my Harap's gives "Arc" as being "Arch" or "Bow". Damned French make everything so complicated for me... almost as bad as the Ruskies. |

arc means too bow. But "arc" is the form, like the purple line here:

From what I found in the dictionary:

Íris are the coloured beams that surround images given by systems or lenses that are not working properly. Roughly speaking, it would be related to this:
Which is the origin of the rainbow itself. God, it's such a technical word, I had never thought about it before. No wonder people from the country usually say "Arco-da-velha" (Old Lady's Arch)... that's a lot less complicated :D |
