Vestax crossfader worn out?

Hello all... on my PCV-275 Vestax mixer... the crossfader is considerably looser to slide around then my level adjusters.. is this normal? Is the crossfader supposed to be significantly easy to push with the slightest touch (or should it be stiff).... or is mine just worn out?

Another thing is that when I slowly bring the X fader towards the center from one track to another, at about half an inch way's in towards the center, the next track is introduced quite abruptly and not as smooth as i'd expect it to.... are these signs for a replacement?

regarding the crossfader being looser, i too have a 275 and i think this is normal. I'm still a novice though but i'm pretty sure scratch dj's need the crossfader to be loose (helps when flicking the fader across etc)

But someone should back me up on whether i'm right or wrong.

The fader cutting in abruptly..?

Well i could say, "You get what you pay for..." But maybe if it's cutting in REALLY abruptly it could actually have something wrong with it, but i don't think so personally. :)

The crossfader is supposed to feel like that. Try mixing using the channel faders and just leave the crossfader in the center. It will sound better, or it should.

No no its not TOO ABRUPT... but I guess thats how its supposed to be.

I've never tryed mixing with just the level's and leaving the crossfader in the middle... is this an effective way to mix?

Thanks for the advice you guys

that's how mine was. Thought it was broken when I first got it. I started off using the crossfader, but switched to just using the upfaders and like it much better.

use the volume faders much more control during mixing you should also try adjusting your x fader curve

Adjust my crossfader curve? What is that and how would that be done?
i got big pants
theres ususally a knob or a switch that can tweak the crossfader curve. should have a picture with two lines forming some sort of X.

btw...i used to mix with the crossfader, but just use the gains now. feel like i have so much more control over my mixing than when i used the crossfader and it sounds so much better
