1200's vs STR 150s

Seriously mate, i can understand ever so slightly asking about the str150's but asking about 1210s? You must be kidding..

The torque on the str 150's are amazing. Pressed the stop/start button on them :cool: stop & strt almost like a cd player!
I wuld take the mk5g's over them any day despite that fact ;)
use the search button for a comparison of both... |

| Honneslty the responsiveness of the STR-150's is incredible. In my opinion they are better tables then the 1200's in performance...only in performance. |

| you will be happy with whichever one you get but the stantons do look pretty and have a reverse feature plus key correction which works well sometimes. on these forums, i haven't heard much, if any, flaws pertaining to the str8-150 so they will be good any for the price they are the best performing. |

| if you can, nab the older versions of the 150's. the STR8-150 they made black, but the ST-150, the S-Shaped tonearm version, is in a nice looking blue. |

| the blue is really nice i have the st-150's in the blue version. In my opinion i like the stantons way more, they are built like a tank, come with a great cartridge pre mounted on them, have wonderful torque rock solid pitch fader, and have been nothing but wonderful to mix on. People love tech's but I don't think they deserve there only table under the sun reputation. Like anything you can only be on top for so long until someone unseats you. The techs are a great deck don't get me wrong and you'll find them in almost any club, but for less money you get more from the stantons. |

I'm not sure if this is the same for everyone.
But for some reason I really like that the technics doesn't start right away.
To me the whole point of mixing on turntables is that I can use my hands to cue it and also the needle. I personally don't like to press the start/stop button to play the record.
I either have the record already spining and I use the needle or I just cue it up while the platter is spinning. Very rarely do I ever stop the platter. But that's just me. |

I think the previous poster was just stating that the table starts instantly, not necessarily saying that they used that as their mixing style.
I've never seen anyone cue with the start/stop button...

| does the stanton have as good sound quality as the technics? I know that the technics, with the same cartridge, will sound better than the str8-80s I used to play with |

A buddy of mine made a comment that really made sense to me. He said 'I doesn't matter how great a turntable is. When I play at a club they have Technics so when I practice it's going to be on Technics.'
I know that when you're starting out you never think that one day you could be playing at a club but a few years down the line it won't seem so far fetched. There's a good chance you won't be familiar with the mixer they have -- the last think you want to have to pick up on the fly is the feel of the turntable.
Now watch me get a set of STR-150’s put in front of me next time I play out. ;) |
