With previous Five AM remix credentials, leading Finnish DJ & producer Orkidea releases his first solo project on the label. The label held back on 'Embrace' until the summer, and a quick listen will explain why – techy beats, crashing drums and a funked-up bassline soon give way to a shimmering plucked riff, before a remarkably hooky old school lead takes centre-stage. Flipped by a big, previously unreleased mix of 'Beautiful' from Marc Mitchell.
A1. I like build up and especially the piano sound. :whip: 9.5/10
B1. Nice vocals from Star Wars Episode 1 8,5/10

| I'm really not a friend of embrace, atleast not yeat I'm not, hopefully we'll be seeing some new remixes. As for Mark Mitchell's remix of beautiful goes it's really starting to build up on me :). Not so much of a dancefloor-track but something you'd put in a "listening set" i'spose... :rolleyes: |

| Not too keen when i got this in the post, but after that godawful Signalrunners release it made a welcome change. Im looking forward to the Alt+F4 remix release, Mitchell may be a veteran, but the newboys from Finland do it for me :D |

| I've only heard Embrace, and I like it a lot. It feels like one that might burn out quickly if I play it too much too quickly, though. We'll see. I think I'll get the vinyl. |

Marc did a brilliant job with his remix, been loving it ever since i first heard it about a year ago. Finally the vinyl got out a while back too. Then again, Embrace doesn't do much for me tho..
Looking forward to the forthcoming Marc Mitchell & Orkidea collab as well, titled Eternal Love which should come out later this year or early next year. It's a beautiful 15min journey into epic trance or something like that.
Orkidea will also release his debut mix CD, 'A Place Called Happiness' on November 16th via Universal Music (not sure if it will be just a Finland only release like his artist album Taika was), including some previously unreleased music from such names as Way Out West, Junkie XL, Tiësto and of course the man himself. Also featured on that cd is Slusnik Luna & Lowland's remake of the KLF's 'Last Train To Trancentral'.
At around the same time he will also put out a very limitedly pressed chillout cd, 'Music Speaks In Thousand Languages' which features his own downtempo material, like Beautiful (Ambient Mix) and such. The chillout cd will surely be a Finland only release tho.
I have no clue yet if/when the Sundawner & Alt+F4 remixes of Beautiful will get an official release.. we'll see. |

Heh, that particular track is like the only one out of the CD which has already been available elsewhere.. on the movie soundtrack of 'Hymypoika'. Also pretty much the only EDM track on the soundtrack CD as well. :haha: |
