Mark Oliver and Guv....

There are lots of complains about the Guvs peeps and Music....Well the Sound System is pretty nice (little bit noisy), the lights are awesome, it is just Mark Oliver spinning not the right stuff.....
Does anyone knows how to reach him, and tell him what is going on.....just maybe e-mail him or call him....
Does anyone knows one of the Guv's managers or ppl who are related to music and can influence it......
If there are, please......can you tell them theat they are damn, and 3 times more ppl would go to guvernmnet if Mark or smbdy else would spin the right music.
What I am leading too is: we are customers and customers are always right...and while Guv's Saturdays are only fairly good trance nights in Toronto......we are the once who should try to change the music to the one we like.........
Swamper......u should make a poll like....what trance songs ppl wanna hear in the club, and top 20 of those should be given to OLIVER or Guvs staff. If we make them sure that more ppl will come.....we will get the right thing in the GUV.
We have to show Mark - Toronto ppls attitude toward trance on the tranceaddict web site.

Not that I love the style of music Oliver spins, but he does play what the majority of the crowd there wants to hear.
After all he has been doing this for years and years...and has opened for every huge dj there is on this planet.
I know what you mean about the guv having the possibility to be much better in some ways...but the way it is now has been a recipe for success for many years.

So true... and I don't think that GUV or Mark Oliver needs to change the type of music he is spinning just so the club can get 3 times as many people! Why? 'Cuz it is crowded the way it is right now!!!
Not that I love the type of music he spins either, but he has his good nites, and his off nites too... and is playing what the majority of people in there want to hear. If I was in management of that club, I wouldn't even consider changing anything, since the business is going great for them, and they know Mark can fill up the club every Saturday... now, if he can fill it up with TranceAddicts, that is another question, but I don't think him or the management could care less about that... |

Totally agree with you fantom.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Guvernment is doing well and won't change anything so long as they're packing 'em in like sardines.
As for Mark Oliver, he's carved (and still is) carving a niche for himself in that he plays the most up-to-date progressive house in Canada (or at least Toronto). In terms of trance, he's just following the progressive house trend - he has to make a living too.
I don't think there's as much trance vinyl out there as there used to be...maybe that's why...
Maybe this is a cue for someone to start a TA trance night somewhere in downtown Toronto...hmmm |

No offence, but I'm pretty sure that Mark Oliver & the Guvernment have a better idea of what the clubbers want to hear.
Mark Oliver spinning 8 hours of trance every saturday night just wouldn't work. He does try to incorporate some trance into most of his sets, but you have to understand that right now Progressive is what's popular which is why he's spinning it. |

it would work, because it used to work! mark used to spin wicked trance sets a few years back... but anyway, back to the topic... mark spins progressive for the guv regular crowd that keeps on fillin the main room even when there are some kick ass guest djs next door in the kool haus or elsewhere in the city... so yea, he spins the tunes the regulars want to hear... |

wrt: to the asian comments always bein made about guv.....I'm prepared to bet .......that if all of you non-asians.....(myself included) would step up and say hi to them....or whateva.......they'd have no choice to respond with that aswell.......and those that don't ...........well fuk....their loss......
maybe they'd be less xenophobic.....if we stopped complaining about them.....and actually tried to partE with them........
p.s I've known asians.....new to the country and those here b4 I was.........so there........I'm a fukin FOB to some of them.........but hey......I'll say hi to you if you say hi to me....and visa versa......who gives a .......
