I couldn't imagine a life without rice until a student of mine told that she went to a Christmas Supper in the Polish Embassy and there was no rice at all. I've heard rice is the food of poor nations and wheat is the food of the rich ones, but rice-oriented cousines also use wheat (so you have bread and ramen and whatnot) and wheat-oriented cousines also have rice (risotto). So, what would it be? The mega mega white thing or the flesh of Christ.
I'm adding corn and beans to the list in case someone thinks one of these have a bigger acceptance worldwide. |
