The opposite of white is black, the opposite cold is hot... what do you think the opposite of red is? There are several different ways of defining it, but I'd like to know which one TA's would consider to be the most "obvious" one, if there is anything obvious, that is.

For me it's blue. You wrote yourself the warm-cold pair, and for me red goes as "naturally" with warm as blue goes with cold. Also, at least in Western culture, blue is storngly associated with "boys" / male whereas red is the "girl" color. And let us not forget Morpheus' pills in The Matrix ;)

I agree w/ that one .. red=hot and blue=cold .. green goes inbetween

I can't technically answer your poll because my perspective exists in a simultaneity.

However for the sake of simplicity I selected Green based on certain versions of the colour wheel.

Just remember the Red Tablet is eXistenZ...
chillsonic
green is the opposite, because it appears the greatest distance away (half circle) from red on a color wheel.

Green is. I didn't take art throughout high school for nothin.
apostrophe
green :o
Fundamental
I was tempted to say green because of the whole colour wheel thing, but the computer scientist part of me thought otherwise...

Red's (#FF0000) complement is #00FFFF which I know is Cyan. :D

EDIT: What?! I'm the only one to vote Cyan so far?! Come on people! RGB > RYB :p

voted for Cyan as well, dunno exactly why

Because that's exactly how you see it. Ever tried looking at something red for a while, and then looking at a white wall? Your vision is "burned" in cyan for a while. That's why computer graphics work this way, and Fundamental found cyan as well.

It's just a matter of deciding whether you'd choose the visual colour (cyan), the mixing colour (green) or the psychological one (blue).

bananas
Blue :]

blue

because,

I associate: red with the hell, and blue with the heaven
