| I was just wondering what ppl think. In general, no specific edm genre in particular, do you think EDM is becoming more popular...as in more people listening to it around the world? |

| EDM has existed over 10 years...but nowadays a lot of pple are getting into this type of music(and most of them think it is very recent)however, it has a long history...starting with Depeche mode...faithless(old trance man) etc....of course couples of years ago EDM was MUCH more underground...but with greater technology pple are admiring Dj's as "rock strars" now and this is why pple are liking EDM music. Some pple don t even give a about the music but think theY RE cool by taking pills( and sorry can stand these losers) Moreover, EDM popularity is not equally spread all over the world. Europe are very strong with trance....and embedde a lot of great unknown DJ's....whereas in north america house is the big shot(more than trance) but EDM music is not as popular as hip hop(here) .According to me I prefer that EDM stays more underground...even though it has expand a lot....this is what makes the vibe and the music so special....and to all of the new in the EDM scene ...no need to take 10 pills to show off(believe me it exist these type of ignorant)EDM music is not about drugs it s something beyond!! and plzz to those wanabees plz don' t blast in your cars or ask me if I know Traffic from DJ Tiesto....old school! |

Everything that's considered Trendy, has EDM attached.
Cafes.
Fashionable clothes stores.
Big high roller TV shows, etc.
It's definately growing, but retarted Hip Hop is still thriving in North America sadly...
I guess guys like fitty cent haven't been shot enough to call it quits...
But ya, it be growin for sure, especially since Asia is into it.
I think EDM is the best kind of music simply cause, it combines many other genres and at the same time its the only form of music that has zero limits, it can be tampered with and altered to PERFECTION and can be changed at will to suit any sound the DJ/Producer wishes.
LONG LIVE EDM, BUT STAY AWAY YOU FAD PEOPLE LOOKING FOR THE NEXT THING TO FOLLOW!!!

| Music is music. Go with the flow. EDM will boom in NA within the next few years. Just look at how successfull TIC was in NYC. It's all coming up Milhouse. :P |

I don't forsee EDM (and I don't mean tiesto remixes of pop songs, I mean real underground ) being popular like it is in Europe. In Germany, and all throughout the EU really, techno is like what we hear on the radio - its everywhere.
Yes, NA will increasingly accept electronic music into the mainstream, but I don't think we will ever be on par with overseas. |

And EDM has been around since the 70's with that french dude...can't remember his name right now though. |

I walked in front of a le chateau... they were playing some chillout tunes was pretty interesting
True the trendy places play alot of ambient / house /chillout tunes because of the atmosphere of the place... sort of hard to play metal / rock or punk in a modern space = bad vibe but wtv. |
