I have a 2G 20 GB ipod and love it. Fantastic piece of equipment.
One bit of advice - if you are going to be rugged with the unit (jog, bike ride, rock climb) go with the new Sony 1 GB units. Far superior to shuffle.
Don't get me wrong; the iPod takes beatings it as well as it dishes out tunes. I'm cautious because I wouldn't want to "possibly" ruin the mechanical mechanisms in the Ipod. |

it will be nice when the prices for solid state memory devices go down in terms of its size comparisons.. those things are nearly indestructable! if i'm not mistaken i believe it's the harddrive within the iPOD and most other microdrive based players that's most susceptible to damage .. ?

mine will just live in my cars or boat providing my music library on the move so to speak
so i will also be looking for a good fm converter for the cars , I have a aux button on the bose system in the vette but dont know if there are any jacks anywhere or if this was only for the cd changer option, although my boat has aux rca jacks the monsoon system in the firebird has nothing so i will need a fm modulator for that |

Just get a regular iPod, 20GB or whichever size you need. No useless Mini or Shuffle, and the Photo version is, in my opinion, a gimmick.
Do you live downtown? If so, don't bother with an FM transmitter. I've got a Griffin iTrip (the best FM transmitter for iPods), and since there aren't any open frequencies in the downtown area, the terrestrial broadcasts will overpower your personal transmitter.
If at all possible, get an auxilliary line-in setup for your car's head unit. RCA cable from iPod into the back of the head unit, set the unit on aux. Then you're good to go.
Also if you're gonna use it in your car, I highly recommend the Belkin TuneDok iPod cupholder device, and the Griffin PowerPod car charger :) |

Though I enjoy my mini for its size compared to the reg. iPod, but from what it sounds like you'll use yours for, you gotta go with the new generation 20 or 60 gigs - all colour now!
They look ing sick and I love the way iPods operate!
Get one man... and live life! Be happy! :D :D

I have the 3rd generation 15 gig and it's fantastic indeed...I think today you can buy the 20 gig one for the same price anyway :)
In any case 20 gigs is quite enough in my opinion :) and get the colour screen one while youre at it ;) nice with graphics and album covers and all |

iPods have got to be the single worst POS Apple has ever released. I cant tell you how many dozens have been returned at my work because they break....and we've only sold them since November last year!
Buy IRiver or Rio...or better yet get a Creative Zen.
Creative has beem making hard drive based MP# players since the mid-late 90's |
