As above really..
I'm nearly finished with my dj table and in addition to my previous thread about mac mini's i'm thinking of building a screen into my dj table. A fibreglass arm basically holding up my screen.
I'm into car audio as well and know you can get 10" screens for cars etc.. So i was just tinkering with the idea of how small a monitor you can have before it gets too small? I haven't seen the layout on a computer yet so i'm not sure. would a 14" laptop screen be the smallest?
Preferably the screen wont have a stand as i can then build it into the table. Or if it has, a removable stand would be handy.
Thanks lads,

well there's the size factor but also the resolution.
Don't quote me on this but I'm pretty sure you'll want at least 1024*768 resolution.
I don't believe you could get such a resolution from a 10" car installation lcd
I don't know I'm not the car expert but I don't believe these types of lcds have wonderful resolutions ?
It sounds like a great idea to try it out before you do the install but that would require having access to a spare monitor.
Also most of the time it's purely video connection and not vga rgb connectors .... could lost in quality or clarity and that could be a problem considering the mostly text based nature of Serato.
Wouldn't it be cheaper to get a computer Lcd 14" then a car one?
From what I've seen in the car ones they tend to be a little pricey and quite crappy ( talking about the lower priced ones ... not the high end alpine/pioneer/etc all integrated head units which include pull out monitor ) |

If your looking for car audio monitors, go with the Xenarc screens. They are SVGA screens with very high resolution, and they come in touch screen format. I believe as of right now, the biggest screen is a 9", but I could be wrong.
Or a flat panel widescreen 15" monitor. |

| i have a 17" LCD hooked up to my computer on a custom built console. works great. i dont see why small form factor is a big issue. 17" comes with a stand and the footprint is small. |

Cool cheers lads,
Was thinking about getting a widescreen monitor as well, not sure if it would look a bit funny though being such a small screen!
Hmm.. what to go for.. SSL works fine on a 12" screen you think though, that's good to know :)
