Why Ice Cubes in the Urinals

| Okay.....I need to know why I see so many restaurants putting ice cubes in the urinals. I have been to three restaurants over the last week and all of them had ice cubes in the urinals. |

I always thought it was mothballs they put in there. But icecubes?! :wtf: |

| I'm sure you've smelt the lovely stench of a urine filled back alley on a hot hot day. That should give you your answer. |

This is what i found when i googled it though:
* The melting ice acts as a slow, continuous flush
* Ice cools the air around the urinal. Cool air sinks, which serves to contain the smell
* Cold discourages drain flies
* Fun to melt, helps users aim better, compensates for poor male sanitary habits |

| they only put them in the urinal towards the later half of the night...i think thats being unfair to the lads that want to melt ice with pee earlier in the night...its quite "discriminatory" |

Definetly agree with you there. You can have competitions with your friends; see how many cubes you can melt before you're finished relieving yourself. |

well also they put old ice in there to make room for new ice. |
