M.I.K.E

M.I.K.E. is Mike Dierickx. Formerly known as Dirk Dierickx. He lives in Belgium around the area
of Antwerp. In 2000 he decided to change his real name from Dirk to Mike. Mike quotes: "When I
started to dj at the age of 16, i used the name Dj Mike as my artist name.later on it changed into
my producers name M.I.K.E., and that's why I decided to make it my real name."
He produces under the name M.I.K.E. , and also started to DJ under this alias. M.I.K.E is
releasing records under the guises; Solar Factor, M.I.K.E, The Blackmaster, Return Of The
Native, Plastic Boy .and last but not least, Push. As a dj,Mike.s style is very similar to
the music he makes, techy- edged on a progressive trance tip. M.I.K.E is at the forefront of
Europe's new sound, regularly topping charts in several leading countries. The story began
when an 11 year old boy discovered the potential of samplers and keyboards... A kid who
preferred knobs and backlight displays instead of playing in kindergardens.
At the age of 18, Mike handed his first demo tape to the Antwerp based record company, 'USA Import'.
Shortly after, his first record, 'Vision Act' was released on the Atom label in 1992. Mike
released a series of successful records before he signed up with Lightning back in 1996.
M.I.K.E's reputation shot through the roof, and although a commercial crossover had never been
anticipated, in 1998 'Universal Nation' took the world by storm, winning several dance
awards, and undoubtedly being recognized as one of the classic dance-records of the trance era.
Pole positions in the worldwide dance charts were soon putting the Belgian dance scene firmly
on the map.His Push follow up single, 'Strange World', destroyed hundreds of clubs across
Europe, in the same vein as 'Universal Nation'.
This was followed by yet another blockbuster, 'The Legacy' once again topping all dance charts
across Europe and entering the British National charts at #21. Over the years Mike received
several music awards including best club singles and best dance-producer,and entered 6
times the national top 40 in the UK. Mike also teamed up and did rmxs for Sinead 'O Connor, Moby,
Mauro Piccoto, Bom Funk Mc's, Oliver Lieb, Ian Van Dahl. This kind of success did not go unnoticed,
as M.I.K.E. was asked to DJ at some of the best venues in the world, including: 'Gatecrasher'
and 'Godskitchen' in the UK,'Fura' and 'Vel Farre' in Japan, 'Dance Valley . and 'Trance Energy'
in Holland,'Limelight' and .WMC. U.S. , from Australia.s Syndey and Melbourne to New Zeeland
and the residency in Armada.s Amnesia club night in Ibiza.are a few to mention. Mike still holds
residencies in Godskitchen Birmingham and The Gallery in London. Mike also produced a soundtrack
for a Japanese movie and for .Groove ., a movie starring John Digweed.

JONATHAN OJEDA

Jonathan Ojeda has been a driving influence in the dance community for more than 15 years.
From throwing parties in the early 90's to owning the widely respected Spundae Reckords
store in San Francisco, to his studio projects and legendary DJ sets across the globe, Jonathan's
roots in music run deep, thick and accomplished.
Classically trained since the age of eight, his desire to create a life in the arts has always
been present. He played saxophone and piano at home and in numerous classical, marching and
jazz ensembles throughout his adolescence. As he grew older, he became akin the sounds
that would later be attributed to his definitive and unforgettable style.
In the late 80.s and early 90.s, Jonathan was deep into alternative music and the birthing
underground scene. He found artists like Depeche Mode, Erasure and Front 242 were writin
music a bit different than other contemporary artists played on the radio. Groups like Prodigy,
Moby, D-Mob, KLF and Jungle Brothers wooed him. Mix compilations like "Only for the Headstrong"
and "Journey's by DJ" fueled him. And in the summer of 1989, he was invited to The Gathering in
Livermore, California, an annual outdoor underground dance event housing thousands partiers.
Here, his concepts of music would change forever. He would find techno and house.
As he was finishing up college in Southern California, his girlfriend surprised him with turntables.
His fetish for vinyl had already begun but she was tired of hearing him put on a song or mix
compilation to say ".wouldn't it sound great if hi-hats came in here.. or ".what if the
sound was filtered here..." over and over and over again. Most of the time, she didn.t understand.
The only thing she knew was he needed an outlet for his creativity and passion for something
different.
In 1998, he returned to San Francisco on his way to London with his .day job.. He dropped
in on Spundae at the legendary 1015 Folsom. The club was bursting at the seams with sound,
energy and an unparalleled
emotion. He was dumfounded. Ironically, his travels overseas were cancelled and although London
was where he hoped to venture, San Francisco and Spundae is where he would now hang his coat.
That same year, the Spundae Reckords store opened. Their vinyl selection was synonymous
with the very best in progressive, trance, house and breaks. Determined, Jonathan quit
his nine-to-five job and began working at the shop. The store quickly became recognized as
"THE" record store to shop at when in San Francisco and he was appropriately asked to
take on the role of Managing Partner. Shortly there after, he began handling A&R for Spundae's
newly restructured record label and also began writing for the US dance magazine BPM Culture
as their Progressive/Trance reviewer.
Developing his sound, Jonathan was becoming known as a staple DJ in the thriving San Francisco
club scene. Making a name for himself, he joined Spundae's internationally recognized
family of world class resident DJ's including Jerry Bonham, Max Graham, Lee Burridge,
Cass and others. With his residency and store, the label and the magazine, his schedule
was full but he found time to create music in the studio with long time friend Doug Eisengrein
as they created their Suffix moniker. On his European tour in 2003 Jonathan met up with two
Irishmen, Chris Boshell and Al Manning. They formed his second collaboration under the
name Cojac. And upon his return, he created a third endeavor with San Francisco's Scott Galloway (Loway)
under the name LoJo. Jonathan's studio work has become a tandem focus along side DJing. In addition,
the recent launch of his record imprint Omnis Recordings with fellow studio mates Chris Boshell &
Al Manning will showcase a number of up-and-comer.s including some of his own aliases. Having
recently completed two eastern and western European tours, Jonathan is scheduled to tour again
in fall, 2005 with dates in Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Singapore, Bangkok and Europe.
