If he said he paid for it, that's all we need to know. Who the hell cares where he got it from? That is not the point...the point is that he is hooking us up...that is all that matters. He hasn't posted warez links or mentioned that he has warez, so that right there is irrelevant to this thread. Whatever he's got in his PC, that's all him and is strictly his business...he's hooking us up and that is all that matters. :) |
I don't wanna spoil the fun, but handing out sounds from a sample pack is illegal too technically. Thois, maybe you bought the thing, that's not the point of discussion. What you offer is very generous, but it's the same as offering warez. Those samples are copyrighted. Read the license agreement. |

Well, I just thought it sounded a bit silly to try and convince us that he actually bought the package. We don't need to know that either, don't we? Just makes it more doubtful he bought something worth $1000 as a "hobby purchase".
Besides that, of course I appreciate his willing to help out. My reply has nothing to do with that... |
Well, yeah, he shouldn't have mentioned he bought it. Anyway, I bought a +$1,000 digital SLR camera for my birthday and I am not a professional photographer, hehe, it's just an expensive toy for hobby. Maybe he DID buy it. There is crazy people like that in the world, hehe. :tongue2 |

Yeah, I know :)
Just makes me wanna frown though hehe. And like mentioned, even sharing sounds from the package is not allowed according to most on going synths. |

No it isn't. First of all, Symphonic Choirs isn't a sample pack by definition, and secondly, it's only copyright infringement if you're reselling them as your own or using the samples by themselves (i.e. without anything of your own added to the mix) for commercial purposes. |

nevermind jaleous people ;)
Icone, who thinks he's a pro, can't afford such an expensive thing for his studio... And you have enough of money to pay it EVEN if it's just a hobby ;) He's jaleous, it's evident :) |

| This is the way I see it...life is TOO short, we are young...so we should enjoy the niceties of life. If it means spending over a grand in software that is not going to give you profit, so what? You are having a good time and enjoying yourself. Who knows when you are going to die? That is why I spend big money on my toys...I feel guilt and buyer's remorse but at the same time, I know life can end at anytime, so I enjoy it with my toys. :tongue2 |

his first post was a legal disclaimer that absolves him of any wrong doing including software piracy.
it'll never stand up in court! |

You take definitions very literally. It's a sample library with an integrated sample player. In my book that's still a sample pack. I know they speak a lot about "commercial purpose".
Just a quick excerpt of the license agreement :
| quote: | What can't I use the sounds for?
You cannot use the sounds in isolation (i.e. when they are not used within musical compositions) as part of a commercially released project. For example, you cannot use the sounds to make another Sample CD, or include them as individual sound samples on a multimedia CD, gaming machine, or toy, that is commercially distributed. You must add substantial instrumentation to loops* (*loops are compositions that contain a combination of sound samples that can be repeated to form a continuous piece of music). You cannot upload or download the sound samples to any database or server, unless they are used in a musical composition (in combination with other sounds) created by you.
Who else can use the sounds on the CD that I have purchased?
Nobody, unless they also purchased the same Sample CD or downloaded the same sound sample. Only the ORIGINAL PURCHASER has the right to use the sound samples. This means you CANNOT SELL or give the sounds to anyone else. If you do, and they use the sounds within a commercial release, they, or anyone associated with the distribution of the music, may face legal action from the producer of the sounds. Many of these cases have resulted in multi-million dollar awards to the producer, and ruined the reputation and future job prospects of the composer. It is simply not worth using the sounds 'illegally'. |
So if you take this literally, you can buy the library, upload the samples and redistribute it freely... As long as no one uses it commercially. Very good news for all the sites/ftps/filesharing networks that distribute such files for free. They don't have to worry about being chased down by the authorities. They'll just say they distribute it to amateurs that use it as a hobby... No worries. |
