However, I am a little concerned... how do you plan to create a softsynth emulating a JP8080 when you don't own a JP8080? O.o |
I own a 220 pages pdf manual wich describes every features in details.
I just follow the same.
Yes, this emulation is done with Reaktor5, I don't really like how synthedit sounds. I'm not able to do instruments with C++ for the moment, only some useless effects.. maybe latter!
I have some trouble recreating these oscillators.. I can't figure out the logic in their evolution.
Anyway don't expect an exact copy! ok it will looks the same way but it will still be software..
I will post again when it will be complete. |

| i really hope you finish this. if it doesnt work maybe we (tranceaddicts) should sign something to convince arturia to make a decent emulation :stongue: :toothless |

I'm currently working on this :

This emulation is 70-80% done but I still need some infos.
I would like someone to record his JP for me. I need to understand the behavior of Triangle Mod / Feedback Osc and how the Saw/Triangle shape modification works.
This is exactly what I need :
1- Turn off every effects and tone control.
2- Disable every LfoDepth and envelope depth and set the Lfo1 rate to the middle.
3- Choose a LowPassFilter with no resonance and cuttoff wide open.
4- Amp sustain must be wide open so you can play long notes.
5- Turn off sync, ring, portamento and X-Mod depth.
6- Turn Balance knob on the left because I only need to hear osc1.
7- Turn Osc1 controls on the left and choose Triangle Mod.
8- Play a long note like C4 and, while the note is playing, turn slowly control1 from the left to the right. Then do the same with control2. Then turn control1 to the left and finaly play with Lfo1 rate to the extrems.
9- Do the same with Feedback osc, Saw(osc1) and finnaly Triangle(osc1).
I hope someone will help me!
Thx |
RB2K1 might be interested in a collaboration with you as he knows the JP8080 inside out, plus he is a bit of a wizzard at bulding soft synths that come rather close to the JP, send him a PM as he might help you if he has the time.
The JP8080 it patented by Roland so the legality is somewhat questionable, so make sure this image of the 8080 is permitted. |
