This all happened yesterday... just insane.
But here's the weirdest part, a guy I know only as "Longsiege" on another board posted this...
| quote: | Wow the scariest/exciting thing was witnessed by me today..
So I work at the local 3 pad (city owned) hockey arena as a zamboni driver.
At about 1:15 this afternoon I look out our front doors of the arena to see 2 black guys in football jerseys at our parking lot back fence talking. I thought it looked a little suspicious and contemplated going out and asking what they were doing there since they were violently shaking our one tree. I had to flood the ice so I didn't do anything about it and figured they probably beat my ass anyways.
Anyways an hour later after finishing another flood I go back up to the front of the arena to the front doors and look outside at the parking lot(Our parking lot is pretty big). I heard the faint sounds of sirens in the distance and they gradually got closer and louder. All of a sudden I see this white van riding on the rims because all the tires were blown out and the windows all shot out driving into our parking lot through the entrance. There is a guy hanging out the back of the van and one driving. Well behind them are like 12 or so cop cars.
The van drives into the parking lot riding on the rims sparks flying everywhere until they pulled up behind a mercedes SUV. The cops pulled in and starting firing at these 2 guys. The 2 guys fired back at the cops. Now I know the police have handguns (glocks maybe?) But the 2 black guys had some sort of automatic weapon. It was sooooooo loud (pop pop pop pop pop), sirens going.
At this point I was like OMG...... I and a few others who were watching this unfold went back into the arena.
Apparently the 2 gunman got into the mercedes benz SUV and under the cover of their gunfire jumped the curb and managed to get around the crusiers blocking the entrance and escape.
Needless to say I didn't do any work for the rest of the day. A ton of cops came and put police tape around the van and the sparts of tires on the road, picked up bullets etc.
We heard on the news not an hour later that the 2 gunman were chased all the way out to the highway (which is pretty far, 5 min regular driving distance). The police chased them until they clipped a transport truck and rolled the SUV. One died on impact and the other apparently died on the way or in hospital. No police officers were killed, just the 2 gunman which was lucky.
Yeah so my day was kind interesting. Its not everyday you get to see a gunfight in your local arena parking lot.
The 2 robbers could have easily decided to enter the arena and take hotages if they felt trapped. When I think about it I could have died.... Scary Stuff..
If you live anywhere near London Ontario, watch the news and you'll see the story! |
Now I hadn't heard of anything happening at all, so when he said London, Ontario I was just shocked. So I msg'd my Dad (Forensics for London Police) and he msg'd me back this AM saying this...
| quote: | | I got home this morning at 0540 hrs. I’m just waiting for a guy to come and measure our windows (parents have having new bay windows installed) and then I’m back at it today. Pretty amazing call. Amazing because no one but the bad guys were injured. They were certainly armed for the job and weren’t afraid to use them. |
How insane is all this?
Check the London Free Press homepage to see a pic of the aftermath of the whole ordeal. Pretty wild if you ask me.
Guns, chaos, death
A brazen smash-and-grab jewelry heist rained chaos on south London yesterday, leaving two men dead after a gun battle and a high-speed police chase that started at a suburban shopping mall and ended in a dramatic crash.

messed up...a similar thing happened in Toronto at Sherway Gardens a couple weeks back. My mom's friend was there shopping when she heard some lady yell "everyone get out". She started walking toward the exit door by Sporting Life, as she was about to go out she paused and looked back when one of the gunman ran into her, knocked her down and ran out the door.
Apparently 3 or 4 guys in masks smashed the jewelery cases at one of the stores. She said the guy that crashed into her had a AK47 or something similar.....personally, i'd my pants:nervous: |

| i know it sounds bad, but i have always wanted to witness something like this. You always see it in movies, but I just wonder what it would feel like to see it in real life. I would want to see it, as long as only the guilty got hurt. |

London = little Toronto
Take that event and add the problem at the Colosseum and blah!

Our local newspaper is reporting that an AK was found @ the scene, so that lends credence to the 'pop-pop-pop-pop'in that this guy was hearing.
I live down the street from all of this, and used to work right beside the jewellers that were robbed.. In fact, one of the Colosseum bartenders used to work @ Anstett..
I'm just amazed no one got hurt (other than the suspects) in all this.. This is sleepy lil' London, we don't have Police Chases and AKs.. |
