Unfortunately Hamas is seeing this as a "victory" and a queue to jump on the soapbox, ranting about the fall of Isreal.

I don't get it...:wtf:

hopefuly this isn't done to take attention away from the other part of Palestine.

Do any of you know the reason for Israel occupying the Gaza strip in the first place those 38 years ago????

*is curious to hear the answers*

Yes - so they don't get shelled.

Perhaps Sharon has his own motivations for this move - bait. For everyone's sake, I hope that Palestine does not take it.

it's very true. You can also see the emotion on some of the soldiers faces when they're escorting them out. You know they don't want to do it. But now, with the jewish settlers gone, how will palestine react, and how will they control the land?

Because as far as i know, Israel still run i believe the water system, economy, and other aspects of the region.

That's because all that land is still Israel...it's just called the Palestinian territorries...Palestine doesn't exist...sure they have a flag, supposedly a government, and their own "autonomy" but it's not a country...it will be sooner or later but still that whole land is under Israel.

And yes they don't have anything of their own...at least for now

Ok, they moved out, and lets hope that this is a positive move. I wish this brings some sort of peace.

Lets not make this a political / religion thrashing thread. Keep it clean guys!

*waits for Shadowolf before saying anything substantial :p except for: I hope and pray that God brings (slightly more if not complete) peace between Jews and Muslims in the land*

It's also important to notice that a vast majority of Israelis actually supported this move long time ago and only about 25% of the population weren't too impressed.

It's also important to note that so many the settlers (many of which were barricated there and didn't want to leave) were not even living there, and were not even from Israel but ratehr Jews that came from other places and decided to just sit there cause they were against the evacuation.

And lastly it's important to note that all except one settlement left volunteraly without any problems, and only the extremist one (the one that was cleared out today) was the one that got a little violent (and most Israelis don't like those freaks to begin with).

So...bottom line is that most people supported this long time ago and it's a good thing...the question left now is to see what will the Palestinians do with themselves.

I am so happy those theives are being forced out of the illegally occupied territories. Now they know what palestinians felt like in 1948 when they were forced to leave their homes when the zionists came in.

Gaza might be a hole... but its still the palestinian land. They shouldnt have beent here in the first place.

And starsearcher...Israel CONTROLS the occupied terrirtories.. the West bank and Gaza are NOT part of Israel.
