The Pole Folder appreciation thread

After listening to Zero Gold a countless number of times (seriously, I think it was stuck in my cd player it was nearly obscene how many times I've listened to it), and checking out some other productions by Benoit, I can safely say he is just about the best progressive producer out there right now.

For those new to Pole Folder, look no further than getting Zero Gold, by far the best album of 2005 so far in my opinion. His productions are so ambient, atmosphereic, forboding, and just all around perfect. Even the vocal tracks that may seeeeem cheesey at first begin to grow on you.

Other tracks to check out by him that aren't featured on Zero Gold

Pole Folder - Night Driver
Pole Folder - Planetary Activity
Pole Folder - Salvation On Slavery Sins (Nick Muir remix)

The last of which is a remix of the widely-spun Zero Gold track, just with a more dirty house vibe to it with a saw synth that just cuts into you.

Right now I'm getting his Kiss 100fm set from 10-04-2005 since I haven't heard him mix yet. Hopefully he's just as good a dj as he is producer.

Anyone else loving his stuff as much as I am?

Nope, a live mix. Pole Folder is currently in the middle of a world tour to promote his album, and has been working on new material, including several remixes for a Zero Gold remix EP, a new EP project for Nu Republic, and a remix of a track by Mike Brin for Canadian label Angora.

The Kiss set is the only one I have been able to get my hands on as of yet and the mixing is fairly respectable on it. Though you did say this was his "good" mixing set so I still need another random recorded set to compare juxtapose to this one. I'm assuming he was just doing straight vinyl mixing though without protools on this one. So thus far, I think he's a fairly good dj as well as an outstanding producer.:)

pole folder really does a great job and must put a lot of effort into his work because the sounds he makes and the composition of his tracks is outstanding...

We threw his release party in NYC to open his US tour.

He is a farily good DJ, but a better producer. I liked his set.

He doesnt use vinyl at all. He is purely a CD DJ.

Ah, well I saw a picture of him messing around on some vinyl decks. I think it was at some radio station where he was promoting Zero Gold or something of the like.

Heard him spin countless of times over here in Belgium and he is as accomplished a dj as he is a producer. Maybe he isn't the best technically but his track selection can range from okay to brilliant. You just have to be lucky enough to catch him on a good night. Best night out ever for me is still a pole folder night. 30th of june 2003. Will never forget that date.
