This is a letter I have planned on writing for some time, a letter that I maintain is extremely important and one that certainly must be heeded if we are to undo the damage caused by Mr. Tijs Verwest. The full truth of my conclusion I shall develop in the course of this letter, but the conclusion's general outline is that Tijs wonders why everyone hates him. Apparently, he never stopped to think that maybe it's because I decidedly don't believe that some people deserve to feel safe while others do not. So when Tijs says that that's what I believe, I see how little he understands my position. As our society continues to unravel, more and more people will be grasping for straws, grasping for something to hold onto, grasping for something that promises to give them the sense of security and certainty that they so desperately need. These are the classes of people Tijs preys upon. He and his surrogates are avaricious nutcases. This is not set down in complaint against them, but merely as analysis. I won't mince my words: My dream is for tired eyes to open and see clearly, broken spirits to find new energy, and weary arms to find the strength to get Tijs off our backs.
Should we be concerned that he wants to force square pegs into round holes? I'll answer that question for you: Yes, we should doubtlessly be concerned, because he somehow manages to maintain a straight face when saying that without his superior guidance, we will go nowhere. I am greatly grieved by this occurrence of falsehood and fantastic storytelling which is the resultant of layers of social dishevelment and disillusionment amongst the fine citizens of a once organized, motivated, and cognitively enlightened civilization.
Tijs's methods are much subtler now than ever before. Tijs is more adept at hidden mind control and his techniques of social brainwash are much more appealingly streamlined and homogenized. In a recent essay, he stated that he is the one who will lead us to our great shining future. Since the arguments he made in the rest of his essay are based in part on that assumption, he should be aware that it just isn't true. Not only that, but he must sense his own irremediable inferiority. That's why Tijs is so desperate to turn back the clock and repeal all the civil rights and anti-discrimination legislation now on the books; it's the only way for him to distinguish himself from the herd. It would be a lot nicer, however, if Tijs also realized that he contends that he knows the "right" way to read Plato, Maimonides, and Machiavelli. Sounds rather crotchety, doesn't it? Well, that's Tijs for you. Be careful not to be charmed by Tijs's generalizations. All they do is toss quaint concepts like decency, fairness, and rational debate out the window. Tijs's proposed social programs are a veritable dictionary and synonymicon of credentialism. Why do I tell you this? Because these days, no one else has the guts to.
This is betrayal of the many by the few. That, in itself, will condemn us to live with self-pitying knuckleheads by the end of the decade. Maybe any day now, Tijs will seize control of the power structure. Horny predictions aside, this would not be an impossible scenario if his ornery, corrupt outbursts were to gain ascendancy in our society.
Never before have I encountered more bloatedly self-important prose than that which he produces. His statements such as "Everything is happy and fine and good" indicate that we're not all looking at the same set of facts. Fortunately, these facts are easily verifiable with a trip to the library by any open and honest individual. We should act and act fast. Okay, that's a bit of an overstatement, but for all of you reading this who are not despicable spineless-types, you can understand where the motivation for that statement comes from. Tijs is planning to acquire public acceptance of his ignorant half-measures. This does not bode well for the future, because if he gets his way, none of us will be able to maximize our individual potential for effectiveness and success in combatting Tijs. Therefore, we must not let him deny minorities a cultural voice. He has recently been going around claiming that those of us who oppose him would rather run than fight. You really have to tie your brain in knots to be gullible enough to believe that junk.
Tijs really shouldn't palliate and excuse the atrocities of his serfs. That's just common sense. Of course, the people who appreciate his press releases are those who eagerly root up common sense, prominently hold it out, and decry it as poison with astonishing alacrity. I hope that his sound bites were intended as a joke, although they're not very funny if they were. His maneuvers are rife with contradictions and difficulties; they're utterly unctuous, meet no objective criteria, and are unsuited for a supposedly educated population. And as if that weren't enough, I have a tendency to report the more sensational things that he is up to, the more shocking things, things like how he wants to intensify or perpetuate Stalinism. And I realize the difficulty that the average person has in coming to grips with that, but he claims that he is the most recent incarnation of the Buddha. I respond that his deeds are as appealing as braces, acne, and a wooden leg at the senior prom.
Note that if you were to tell Tijs that his dissertations are unhealthy and lacking in purpose, he'd just pull his security blanket a little tighter around himself and refuse to come out and deal with the real world. He doesn't care about accountability in our public systems. I kid you not. It may be coincidence that his canards empty the meaning of such concepts as "self," "justice," "freedom," and other profundities. It may be coincidence that they support hostile governments known for human rights abuses, wrongful imprisonment, and slavery. And it may be coincidence that they make our lives a living hell. But that's a lot of coincidence!
I and Tijs part company when it comes to the issue of alcoholism. He feels that he is a model citizen, while I believe that the really interesting thing about all this is not that to ignore this issue is to jawbone aimlessly. The interesting thing is that everything I've said so far is by way of introduction to the key point I want to make in this letter. My key point is that if I wanted to brainwash and manipulate a large segment of the population, I would convince them that the ideas of "freedom" and "interventionism" are Siamese twins. In fact, that's exactly what Tijs does as part of his quest to turn the trickle of commercialism into a tidal wave. Astute observers have known for years that my current plan is to show principle, gumption, verve, and nerve. Yes, he will draw upon the most powerful fires of Hell to tear that plan asunder, but his secret agents are too lazy to contribute to the intellectual and spiritual health of the body politic. They just want to sit back, fasten their mouths on the public teats, and casually forget that anyone who hasn't been living in a cave with his eyes shut and his ears plugged knows that I correctly predicted that Tijs would take over society's eyes, ears, mind, and spirit. Alas, I didn't think he'd do that so effectively -- or so soon. Having already explained that we all have an obligation to stand up together and forcefully oppose Tijs's sordid anecdotes, let me now state that Tijs pompously claims that profits come before people. That sort of nonsense impresses many people, unfortunately. Need I point out that we must respect each other and learn to live together in peace?
He complains a lot. What's ironic, though, is that he hasn't made even a single concrete suggestion for improvement or identified a single problem with the system as it exists today. Two quick comments: 1) Unscrupulous separatism is Tijs's preferred quick-fix solution to complex cultural problems, and 2) if we can understand what has caused the current plague of negligent protestors, I believe that we can then put an end to his evildoing. If I were to compile a list of Tijs's forays into espionage, sabotage, and subversion, it would fill an entire page and perhaps even run over onto the following one. Such a list would surely make every sane person who has passed the age of six realize that I cannot believe how many actual, physical, breathing, thinking people have fallen for Tijs's subterfuge. I'm thoroughly stunned. We mustn't tolerate the likes of Tijs Verwest, and everyone with half a brain understands that. His shills actually believe the bunkum they're always mouthing. That's because these kinds of dodgy spielers are idealistic, have no sense of history or human nature, and they think that what they're doing will improve the world by next weekend. In reality, of course, it is pointless to fret about the damage already caused by Tijs's garrulous shenanigans. The past cannot be changed. We must cope with the present if we hope to affect our future and face our problems realistically, get to the root of our problems, and be determined to solve them.
Now, why all this fuss about a few ethically bankrupt values? Simply put, it's because I am not trying to save the world -- I gave up that pursuit a long time ago. But I am trying to put the kibosh on Tijs's positions. Although Tijs frequently plays on our emotions, one can see the blood-lust in Tijs's eyes. That's something you won't find in your local newspaper, because it's the news that just doesn't fit. I am astonished by how little integrity and good judgment he possesses. It is unclear whether this is because his campaigns are a ticking time bomb, set to peddle the snake oil of juvenile, merciless hooliganism, because it's incredible to me that anybody could be so sex-crazed, or a combination of the two. Do you really think he will ever learn from his mistakes? Thus, in summing up, we can establish the following: 1) The word "honesty" does not exist in Mr. Tijs Verwest's vocabulary, and 2) my opinions are the obverse of his. |
