It's more the kind of Richie Hawtin minimal?

So this is the "music to look credible with" thread? Otherwise I don't see the connection.
AlphaStarred
No, it's not the Hawtin type of minimal. And what connexion might that be? Many of those netlabels and artists have tech-house/minimal/ambient/experimental/dub etc within their output.
SYSTEM-J
Yeah, but I don't see why they're connected. Tech-house is a completely different story to dub or ambient.
AlphaStarred
That is all very well, but as I just stated in the post atop yours, many of those artists and labels are comprised of sundry styles of edm, namely the ones mentioned. Just like you are liable to find labels that include hardcore, euro house, and goa all under such an one label.
SYSTEM-J
Right. The thread-starter was emphasising genre over label though, which is why I took it like there was some connection between the genres on a musical or stylistic level.

They aren't connected. IDM has nothing to do with dub, nor tech-house or vice-versa. However, the majority of netlabels/labels who do release speciffically IDM also release lots and lots of minimal and tech-house. But, as AlphaStarred pointed out, this isn't the type of minimal or tech-house you're most likley thinking about. The reason I posted all these genre + netlabels in one thread is that not many people here are aware of these genres, so I thought why not cram them into one big thread. There are many similarities between them though, that is if you're listening to the right kind of IDM/Minimal.

Anyways, Thinner has a very nice dubby/minimal/IDM album called Young American by Christian Bloch. You can download it here for free. Definetly worth checking out. Definetly shows what true minimalistic music is, not that mainstream Hawtin/Carola crap. I reccomend downloading it right now and smoking a big blunt. It's perfect lazy Friday night laid back for getting high too.

I've been a big fan of Thinner / Autoplate for a long time, I'll check out some of those other labels and get back to you :)

I hope this thread doesn't die :nervous:

When you put it like that, I'm definitely keeping this thread on the first page. :toothless

Yay for creating a thread that comprises every single self-important, boring, and uncreative music around. Christian Bloch makes ty electro, which is what he tries to make at times. As for the "minimal" techno he might make, that blows too. Actually he might make good "minimal" techno, which doesn't matter since most/all of it is less interesting than my last hangnail.

You're quite welcome.

Better luck next time at being offensive.

I got pretty bored with most new minimal and tech-house stuff, but dub and experimental are nice...but the fact of the matter is that many people here enjoy the first two styles more than the latter. This thread, besides individual taste, is above all in order to inform & edify, and also to share the similar interests many may have about the artists/labels/free music that will hopefully continuously be contributed.. I'd say this thread, even though not really comprising my fav. genres to often listen to, still greatly overshadows many others in the MD, which are as a custom a kind of reiteration, like a locked groove on a 12", about the selfsame artists, djs, and arguments. At least, by and large.
