I love these celebrity apologists... "They work so many hours" "They are stressed out". Yes, they do work long hours, especially when shooting a film, but there are millions of people out there who do the same thing and for a boatload of less money. Which of course brings me to the next point. If a celebrity can't deal with the stress of being a celebrity then go take up a job in a cubicle. I love it when celebrities complain about living in the public eye. That's the reason they are paid so much, because their product (themselves) is consumed by so many people. There are so many girls who look so coked out right now in hollywood its unbelieveable.

Let's take something into account here.

In celebritydom there is a thing I call point of no return. It works like this:

You've got a gradual scale of celebrity. It starts with unknown/best kept secret in town, and then it grows to cult following in the underground, then niche celebrity, then star, superstar and finally head-of-an-empire-that-is-me.

Once you go from one level to the next YOU CANNOT GO BACK, because

1) you've reached the point where your devoted little grass-roots audience wrote you off as mainstream (doesn't really apply to Hilary Duff)

2) The companies that invested all that mega $$$ in your career want to make their money back.

So you can only either maintain your fame level, however hard that is, or get bigger.

And that is why celebrities work like medieval slaves and get 2 hours of sleep a night. They don't have a choice. They have to keep themselves in your face and their sharks well fed.

And even if not for the $$$ sharks, Green Day can't go back to putting out 7-inch vinyl EPs and playing for the hardcore kids like they did in the 80s, and Eminem, as much as he admits he'd love to, can't go back to the underground - if he puts out an album that sells 500,000 copies now, it's not an "indie release", it's a failure.

i smell bull.

you are a celeb. you have a lot of money. a lot. of money. a lot.

you can do whatever the you want. if you want to go back to doing underground releases, you can. if you want to do -all and just consume some oxygen, you can. no one forces you to do . if you keep whoring yourself out and are tired because of it, it's your own fault.

and that midevil slave bull is just that. they do not get 2 hours of sleep a day. they do not work hard. they got to 2 hour photo sessions, then, PR appearance at some store maybe twice a month. and they say that it is stressing them out. they talk .

you say eminem cant make something on a major label that is just going to sell half a million copies. fine. with the amount of money he has, he can start a small label as a creative outlet for himself, and sign unknwon acts. no wait, this would actualy be a contribution to music. god forbid he actually does some good.

let's be real. a construction worker, a garbage man, your local mechanic, all work 100x harder than any celeb. stop making excuses for their bad habits and stupid decisions, and their constant attention whoring. if they really wanted to fade from the public eye, they easily could; it's not like they have any particular talent that people might seek them out for.

She always used to have a bit of flab hanging around previously which I was a little bit drawn back about, but her new look, although looking toned, does put me off considerably more than her previously for two reasons:

1. Decrease boob size.
2. Bony face.

Later on I suppose.

But early on, let's look at the entertainment contracts.....page 9, clause 217, paragraph 6 "....we own your career and likeness lock, stock and barrel. You do what we tell you to do." Hmm. You're right, celebs have plenty of money, but enough to buy their way out of these deals?

Page 17, clause 369 "....owes X number of albums, X number of performances, etc. Independent release constitutes copyright infringement because we own your ass...."

Well in a way he did. I'll give you that.

I've heard of celebs who switched to some such careers.

Inertia actually has a good point. When celebrities say being in the lime-light is too much pressure and leads to drug addiction, it is nobodies fault but their own. There are plenty of actors and actresses out there who you never hear a peep out of. It is the choice of the actor or actress on how much they want to live in the spotlight. Tom Cruise was at one point more popular than Hillary Duff and Lindsey Lohan will ever be, combined. Aside from bogus rumors that he was gay, you never heard much about him. Same goes for his former wife Nicole Kidman, and also Penelope Cruiz. Lohan and Duff realize they don't have the chops to have a long career, so they must sell an image of themselves that will prolong their stay in Hollywood. If they don't want their celebrity, that's fine but you can kiss their careers goodbye.
