Novation KS Rack

this worth the £245 for a beginner producer wanting to add some hardware to there setup?
Degradation
Definitely. There are some problems with them like too much gain in the amplifier section can cause digital distortion on the outputs. Can be worked around with care in programming. The synth engine is solid and is kind of a cut down Supernova II with added waveforms and hypersync. Or it could be looked at as a 4 part multitimbral K Station with extra filters and programmability. Great sounding synth if you like the Novation sound.

is it mainly used for trance? tnx for reply

i would recommend to save the money and get a Novation V-Station VST instead
its a great emulation of the K-Station almost the same , really close to the rack and it's cheaper!

if u concidering getting a Rack hardware save for "Novation Nova Laptop Rack" its really amazing!
Degradation
I like the V-station too but it's closer to a K Station in terms of sound than to a KS rack. The V Station is missing the extra filters, oscillator waveforms and hypersync. Plus the KS could be a useful hardware controller not to mention it has resale value if you ever want to change your studio. The presets have a trance bias but just like most synths it could be used for any genre.

V station is a nice VST emulation but eats ur CPU to the rim.

Yeah it can eat the ram plus there is an interferance noise in the background when u load it up, if uve ever noticed it, but nice synth :D
