| It depends whether quality vinyl emulation is important to you, or whether you just want to play cds |

If you want to have a spinning record like vinyl and it be fake like that, then the 5000's are nice (I have them). The platter and slip matt both rotate if you want. They are not equal torque to the 1200's obviously but you can adjust the torque via a rubber band :) the denon dns website helps out with that.
I have a pair of 5000's. they are nice, id give em an 8-10 overall. I love the push and hold buttons, something the cdj's dont have

cdj - aren't all compact cd players considered cdj...not only the pioneer? |

IMO the belt-driven platter sucks, I haven't done the rubberband mod, but I heard from the hardcore denon fans that it only increases torque 10-15%, which still would make it nowhere near anything like vinyl. Plus it's only a 7" platter |

| i completely agree ^^^ but i hope the denon s3500 is gna be cheaper than the 5000's ... i would assume so but they seem better than the s5000's |
