^^^ RJ must be going!!! :p
If TA wasn't somehow involved, this type of post would be considered spam and deleted (new account, post count remains at 1, non-trance/techno/house clearly aimed at the all-ages euro crowd, etc. etc. etc).
I'm honestly curious at to why TA and Tribe ARE involved...seems a wee bit outside the norm. |

100% agree!
ANY ADVANCEMENT OF DIFFERENT MUSIC STYLES PRESENTED FOR A VARIED YOUNG AUDIENCE IS A GOOD THING - THESE ARE THE NEXT GENERATION OF CLUBBERS IN TO - AND WHAT BETTER WAY TO HELP EDUCATE THEM THAN THROUGH SOME OF OUR OWN TOTA DJ PERSONALITIES!!!!!
When I was first started/tried out DJ'ing 10 years ago I would have killed to play this kinda gig - beats out the 30 or so peeps (if that) that used to come out on a Tuesday night because my town was to lame to realize what a real DJ was or real dance music for that matter......House music (although more accessible) was hard enough to promote in smaller towns/cities but trance?.......forget it!!!
the feeling of being able to DJ for thousands of people (instead of >50-100) in the style that I loved - WOOT - amazing!! Our TOTA dj's have the opportunity to do this. WIKKID!
Between the ages of 14-17 I would frequent 2 teenage danceclubs back home that ran weekly and they were such fun and influential times. Hell we even hosted a DMC competition (Southern Ontario semi-finals) in 1988 and that was when I met Matt C (who won with his partner at the time) then around 17 (8 years before he opened Industry) Matt C is LEGEND in this CITY.
In 1986/87 I befriended 2 local DJ's and they lent me their DMC records (for dj's only) and that was my first exposure to House/Acid House music - and so began my long term love affair with EDM music (almost 20 years!) if these types of events did not occur - I probably would not have fell into this music until way later - if at all.....I may still just be happy with my Tragically Hip/Guns and Roses records played ad nauseum...LOL!!
Through that catalyst of me discovering those sounds in 1986 it led to me managing 2 records stores, programming 2 dance radio shows and working for a record label in which promoted and educated thousands of others in various forms of EDM from House to Techno to Jungle to Trance and beyond..........
though the line up may not feature the TOP JOCKS of today - for Mike and Drew (Paradigm) - what a great opportunity to play for people that would not normally be able to hear their mixes in a club setting. It all has to start somewhere - and every DJ has to hon his skills and pay his dues - although the Gino/Gina factor will be high (promotions team involved) - these kids will be up for this gig BIG time - break dancing competitions - cheer leading demonstrations - and a host of BIG NAME sponsors and promotional giveaways.
EURO was the precursor to the "Popular" trance sound today - cannot deny that people.....most of us have at one time thought we were underground but were really commercial minded.....remember POPULAR records???......Robert Miles/Jam and Spoon were semi-underground in 1995 believe or not???? We are way too spoiled these days with access to European and foreign market DJ's - their sets and singles via internet, the clubs and magazine resources.
I will be there for support of my friends who are spinning - hopefully some of you will turn down your noses and do the same.
Screw Infected Mushroom at the Guv! Show some TOTA DJ's some LUV!
:D
To the world you might be one person, but to one person you might be the world |

I think I'm more amused at the fact that there is "free tanning" at this event.
Um... ok.
I'm confused. Are they putting one room aside for we skimpily-clothed girls to strip and then tan for 10 minutes? :stongue: |

LOL No way? Bwahahah! :)
I'm not bashing the party...just think it's funny at some of the things mentioned. As for the 3 paradigm djs, good on you all. :) I'd love to drop tunes anywhere. |

Yup.
..and before I started TA I was debating doing a Euro site - but I opted for Trance instead ;)
..and those of you that were partying from 1994-1997 know that Euro (& hiphop) were the norm at clubs in Toronto. |
