I just got this press release...
VANGUARD LAUNCHES THE FIRST ‘FUNKTION’ EVENT
FRIDAY, AUGUST 26 WITH THE CRYSTAL METHOD
This Friday, August 26, VANGUARD—Hollywood’s newest and largest nightlife venue—will premier its first ‘Funktion’ DJ event with The Crystal Method and supporting talents Jason Bentley & Robotronik. Promoted in conjunction with Insomniac Events and GIANT, the night will also serve as a special birthday celebration for The Crystal Method’s Scott Kirkland and Ken Jordan.
VANGUARD’s ‘Funktion’ events, named after the top-notch Funktion One soundsystem that the club features, are confirmed DJ bookings with various top names in the electronic music realm including Hernan Cattaneo, Tall Paul, Carl Cox, LTJ Bukem and Timo Maas.
Dates and artists for upcoming ‘Funktion’ events are:

That leaves no room for Heaven. Wonder what's goin' on!!
And if this means no more Giant at Avalon...cause a lot of those lineups are ones you'd expect to see at Avalon if they played w/ Giant. |

This is an interesting switch...it leaves a void at Avalon to be filled...and gives the Vanguard some really big names...
I'm interested to see who will fill the Avalon void...and whhere Heaven is gonna go... |

Not necessarily. There's room for Giant on Fridays at Vanguard and Sat at Avalon. There are more than enough House and Prog DJs to fill both of them up without impeding on Spundae's market. |

From what I was told.. Giant hasn't been doing anything at Avalon for a while. They just been co-promoters with WiredLA. I was assured that it will remain the same. But Giant will now push the Giant brand for Friday nights.

smart idea on Dave's part.....so that way peopel wont haver to choose between SPundae and Giant......but at the Vangaurd .....boooo i want my Avalon back :( |
