<3 Arco & Costco gas -- but seriously if your car doesn't need 91 octane, just get regular -- My TL Type-S doesn't need it so once 91 started going over $2.50 I just started putting in regular.
Naturally I don't recommend using regular in cars that ask for 91, but if you are willing to try, basically the test is if your car doesn't start knocking, you're fine (still at your own risk though). It does reduce your performance slightly, and fuel econemy does go down a bit but realistically, the benefits of 91 doesn't outweigh the cost. Oh, and if you're loyal to certain gas stations because they say thier fuel has something better for your engine, don't bother -- it's a bunch of B.S.
That's my that's my $3.0.. err $0.02 :tongue2 |

Actually this isn't a bunch of BS. YES there are some gas companies who make cheap gas and it burns up a whole lot faster. I know many people including myself that have put this to the test. You just simply get better gas mileage with certain types of cars with certain types of gas. Some gas like Shell for instance makes my car accelerate very poorly and 76 makes is accelerate more smoothly. Don’t ask me why, but its true. |

Yep. You should use whatever the owners manual states. Lower octane fuel burns faster than higher octane and will actually give you better performance/mileage if thats what your engine was designed to use. Do not use 87 if your manual states 91 though. |
