Nice interface, just wish it worked with msn protocol so I could actually chat to some people!

Just what I needed. No fluffy emoticons & smileys, crap options.

Just text

Looking forward to the next updates

so basically, they're admitting to scanning every one of my emails...yeah i know the golden rule, never send anything by email that you wouldn't mind being broadcasted on the TV, but still...:nervous::nervous: :nervous:

Your e-mail gets scanned regardless if you are using gmail or not by anti virus scanners, anti spam scanners, gets stored on proxy servers, mail servers, your isp, browser cache, etc, etc. Gmail or not, another computer other than yours and the recipient's has/had a copy of that e-mail at one point or another. It just happens that Gmail scans it in order to display relevant ads. They don't publish/store/harvest/peek at your e-mails in the unethical ways you are thinking of....or so they say of course :)

I don't think they're reading my emails (though they're prefectly welcome to sift through my hundreds of penis extension junk mails if they want:p), and of course they don't publish them, or we'd all know about it! We all know we're being watched by people we don't know. I don't like that, and I hold even more dislike for the mindless logic to justify the surveillance e.g. 'we're doing this so you dont have to look at ads youre not interested in' or 'if you're not doing anything wrong then you shouldn't have a problem with being watched'.

That quote was from my very first correspondence from gmail, in a large print, easy to read email. It's almost as if those justificiations that are my pet hate have become so accepted by the world that google feels comfortable with admitting to everyone from outset that they're watching us.

Two things I hope they're gonna do: make it compatible with whatever the hell MSN uses, and make it so you can log on with two accounts simultaneously. I lead a double life you see...

if you don't mind me asking, why do people overcomplicate their social life by doing that??? Is there a limit to the number of people that you can fit on one account? Do you separate your contacts in to different accounts for organisation (despite the fact that you can separate them in to groups on msn anyway)? Does it make you feel more popular to have more than one email account? I've never understood it and it's a pisser that it screws up my message history when ive got mates that sign in under 2 different names.
