Bjork Appreciation Thread

I remember maybe about 5 years ago, seeing that odd Bjork on TV or being turned off by her too-eclectic vocals. I dilly dallied a bit in her music, but could never really let myself go. It was too... weird, like water running down your neck. I couldn't compose of a rhythm in her vocals, it reminded me of improv gone bad. So, last month, I decide to try again with her Greatest Hits. I'm no fan of such compilations, but resulted to this because I didn't want to take the risk.
Let me just say this. It's now 3:38 AM. I have school today. I went to sleep listening to her Greatest Hits on headphones, because listening to and from school, to and from work and at home after school just doesn't suffice. I woke up about 30 min ago. Before peeing, before looking in the fridge only to find pita bread & 2 jars of pickle juice, I listen to "Hyperballad" again (What an exquisite wedding song!) I then procede online and purchase this order from Amazon:
Debut
Telegram
Medulla
Vespertine
Post
Homogenic
Selma's Songs
Gling Glo ---> very, veryyyy excited to hear this!
Sugarcubes - Life's Too Good
Sugarcubes - Stick Around For Joy
Sugarcubes - Here Today, Tomorrow Next Week!
& from Ebay: Bjork: Live at the Royal Opera House.
Totals for all, including DVD were under a tad under $100. The Kukl sound didn't appeal much, thus sparing me a bit.

What the feck just happened?
The odd things is, I don't even care! I've already dl'ed most albums in the past throughout the years, but felt the need to do this. I think maybe I should get all these new as well, you know, support the artists. Having copys of copys and backup copys of new copy's copys just to be safe. It will take time, as obviously it's taken me 6 years to recognize her talent, but she may in the future hold a light to PJ Harvey. Until then, welcome a newly enthused and fresh Bjork fan! I know some others of you are die-hard fans. Sorry, it feels illegal for me to make this thread, especially being a n00b. But just remember who spent almost $100 at almost 4 AM purchasing albums while still in alpha sleep! Hur hmm yeah!
Who's seen her live? and what are your thoughts, rants, raves, gossip, news, etc. on this Icelander. What's the first song you remember ever hearing? Your first thoughts? Is she hot? Is her kid sane? She's dated Tricky?! Shoot this woman up with tranquilizers and meds and lock her in a padded room and or give her a Lifetime Achievement Award in her honor? Dance to Bjork naked? What an impeccable face! |

She's extremely talented and very underated IMO.
She also has some sort of quirkiness that makes me want to hit it so hard :wtf: :D |

Well it's simple, she could sing anything and I would love it.
Her voice and the way she sings hypnothize me.. and it's weird but I used to be like you, I wasn't fan at all few years ago and then for some reasons I gave it another try and loved it. |

Question: How many times can I use the word "Bjork" or a word containing "bjork" in one post?
The only Bjorkable thing about Bjork I can recall specifically is her giant evil witch octo-dress from the Olympics that Bjork to life, Bjorked the crowd, and nearly Bjorked the lives of everyone there. Luckily, in attendance were enough highly Bjorked and courageous athletes like weightlifters, basketball players, triathletes, and marathon runners to subdue the unruly octo-dress as Bjork as rescue Bjorkified crowd members. The gymnasts, synchronized swimmers, table tennis players, and beach volleyball players pretty much just Bjorked around Bjorking their nails and looking gay, sheltering in their overwhelming Bjorkness. It was quite a Bjorking ceremony. Hmm...what was I talking about again?
And now a message from our sponsors:
Bjork-and-Bake
Kibbles 'n Bjork
Fancy Bjork
Bjork Smart
Bjork-Mart
BjorkDonalds
Burger Bjork
Bjork-In-The-Box
Bjork-a-Roni
Sears, Bjork, & Co.
Microbjork
Superbjorks
MSNBjorkC
Bjorkster
Krispy Bjork Donuts
Dr. Rothchild's Lasik Bjork Surgery
Seriously though, I never can understand what she's saying because of her accent. But I Bjork Sugarcubes! |

bjork is seriously the bomb. her CD Debut is actually the first cd i ever bought when i was like what? 10 or 11...so i've definitely been a long time fan and i'd probably have to say that she is my favorite artist, along with tori amos, of all time.
i've got all the cd's and i've been trying to buy up the vinyls for all of her albums and my goal is to get all her vinyl albums signed next time she comes through town.
i've seen her live which i think is pretty special for us americans because she really doesn't tour through the US. and let me just say that she is an amazing performer. she's so much fun and captivating when she's on stage...
something that i'd recommend to any bjork fan is check out her movie "Dancer In The Dark". people already have the collection of selma songs from the movie, but the movie is also very good. it's a little slow through out most of it, but its really sad and emotional.
anyway i have to get ready for school, but i could go on and on about bjork and how much i like her hahaa. her cds are always in my car and i sing along to all the words and know every nuance of every song simply because i've listened to them so much of time. i've even had to buy 2 of her cd's again because i listened to them too much.
anyway...bjork is the bomb... |
