CPU overload in Ableton 4

I have a quick question concerning overloading in Ableton. I used to use Reason for everything and my computer never had a prob with overloading. I still use Reason to make all my sounds with the exception of a few plug ins I use in Ableton. Then I bounce the finished sounds to Ableton. I really like to use Ableton for the sequencer and I use some effects in Ableton as well. The problem is I can only seem to get about 10 channels of .wavs to play in Ableton with minimal effects before the CPU starts reading 70% I've set the buffers at every different setting I could think of and it doesn't seem to help that much. I don't have a super computer just a basic home set up for now, 256 memory just the basics. Like I said I've never had this problem with Reason. Could be my processor can't handle reason & Ableton on the same or WTF??
One other quick question. I'm not to familiar with Mac but I was just given a fully operational G3 It has around the same memory as my home computer. But with the Mac I would just use it for music. Should I dump it or keep it? Would there be any diff? seeing all that would be on it is music related. Anyways thanks in advance for any help. :happy2: |

Using a G3 is like putting a building on a mouse. It won't fly. I would reccomend getting a G5 PowerMac. 64 Bit and all.
The G3 is the class's slow kid. |
