Avalon Beach (New Jersey)

| Just wondering if anyone here has ever been to Avalon beach in New Jersey? I was thinking of taking my girlfriend on Sunday (3 months we have been seeing eachother and the day before she leaves for school) and she doesn't know we are going. Was told out of most of the beaches closest to the Philly area it was probably the nicest. I guess my main question is which street would be the nicest spot to set up camp for the day. Thanks. :) |

| Avalon is definitely one of the nicer beaches on the Jersey Shore. |

I go to Stone Harbor every summer and Avalon and Stone Harbor are two towns which are located on what is called the 7 mile island....it is by far the nicest part of the jersey shore...very preppy and upper class...
Since i always stay in stone harbor i would say go there...Take exit 10 off of the GSP and just follow the road...it will take you straight through the center of town...once the town ends you will come to 2nd ave...make a right on 2nd ave and follow that to any street from like 116-122...thats my favorite part of the island...you dont need to buy beach passes(at least not for stone harbor) wen u are laying on the beach young girls wearing pink t-shirts will approach you and ask if you have a beach pass and if u dont u can buy one from them for $5 a perseon for the day... |

| Hmm, I am kinda going between Avalon and Cape May now. Cape May seems like there may be more to do. Although I like how it seems Avalon would be a bit more personal. Ah well... I am thinkin too much. :p |

| I havent been to Cape May in yrs... but it seemed like alot of older people down there last time I was there. Avalon is def better... for younger people |
