Are you kidding me, HELL YEAH it's worth learning!
* A good way to learn it would be to learn "Intervals", because most people can't get perfect pitch.
* After learning intervals, practice Chords
Interval Trainer:http://musictheory.net/trainers/html/id90_en.html
Chord Trainer:http://musictheory.net/trainers/html/id92_en.html
* Then start transcribing songs. Start by listening to simple songs, and try to get the rhythm down on paper, and find out what notes are being played. Soon enough, you'll be able to write down songs from your head in no time!
REMEMBER, don't just learn pitch, learn rhythm too. Can't have one without the other. ;) |

I HIGHTLY recomend it! Start as soon as you can! Here is a free program that I know that you can practice on. This is one of the best you can find that is recomended by people who go to Berklee and it's even free!
http://home.scarlet.be/~abenbass/fet.html
Download "functional ear training." Start with the basic and then move on to advanced when you're ready.
Make sure that whatever you use, that it will help you learn all the intervals in relation to the tonic. This is the best way to train yourself. Learning intervals to songs, or just guessing a note randomly without relating it to a scale, will not help you in the long run.
playing piano, if you don't already, can also help a lot. But nothing can help as much as singing! Learn to sing in key and it does a lot. When you can actually feel and hear the note that you are trying to identify, it does a lot for your comprehension and memory. Singing will help you the most in ear training.
It will take some work but you will be glad when you have it. Since trance is so melodical, this will really help you out! |
