Hey I haven't been arround in an extreamly long time. Too many new faces. To those who don't know me I will catch you up. I was here for a while in 2002-2003 and now I am travelling the world in the Canadian military. Anyways to the point of the post.
I am in Afghanistan, and yesterday I had to tape an 8 year old boy back together. He picked up a land mine and blew his hand off. There is nothing I could have done to prepare for telling a child his hand is not going to grow back while blood is spurting into my face. How ed up would you be. I couldn't sleep last night. I don't think I will sleep for a while.
bananas
I doubt i'd sleep after this.

so that guy still cant sleep well...

those blood-stuff-accidents r fukin awfull... ppl got ed up with their lifes after this...

I would say I feel sorry for you,but given the fact the kids in a worse state, and more sorry state than you I will say I feel sorry for him,and that my feelings towards you is gratitude, and respect.

:read the rest of this post,as the beginning,I know, sounds like I am having a go:

I know this scenario has caused you to feel pain, trauma and sadness for the child, aswell as a feeling of helplessness.
But what you did was a good thing, you will have handled the situation the best you could, and you were there when a child you did not know needed you.

I know the beginning of this post doesn't sound nice, but I could not think of the words so do not be offended please,by what I said.
You've done a good job, your clearing someone elses mess up over there in Afghanistan, using your time, energy, feelings and emotions in a cause that wouldn't have involved you,if you hadn't put yourself forward.

Did that make sense?

good luck Hybrid and stay away from those bell towers when you get back

No worries I couldn't kill somebody unless they were trying to kill me. And it is manditory I see a shrink after a traumatic event. I predict a lack of sleep till then. Every time I close my eyes i see it all over again.

That's horrible man.

Make sure the kid can get the best medical treatment available (if you can), and also make sure you see a psychiatrist/therapist to help you deal with this.

Best of luck.

Eh. I wouldn't be too phased by that.

I'm a volunteer firefighter back here in the states so I have my fair share of horror stories that I've experienced.

But yeah... G'luck and stay safe.
