Beatmatching With TT'z

| Okay.. from what i've seen deejays.. they find the cue spot SOMEHOW.. i need help with that also.. and then they just leave it there.. when the point on track a (the track that is playing) that they wanna mix in.. they scratch the vinyl a little and then just let it go.. can some please understand me in simple terms what they are doing so i can get a little knowledge? |

it's called backcueing
when beatmatching think 4/4
they find the first beat in the 4/4 count and set it there, when the first beat comes up on the track that is playing, you just let it go and go from there
4/4 is the key to seamless mixes :) |

isn't it hard to find the cue point on a vinyl? |

| i would say it's easier than with a CD. You just listen to the vinyl and whenever you found the spot you want to start with, stop the record with your hand at that point, hit "start/stop" and leave it there. |

okie.. i press stop, and when i start moving the record again with my hand b4 i release it to beatmatch.. will it autostart?
or do i have to press start/stop again? |

You only push stop if you wanna get a drink or sumpin :D
then when you get back you hold the record back with your hand, push start again, and then you are at the cue-point.
In a set, I actually never let my tables stop....is it just me? |

i guess it's just you, or maybe you need longer to beatmatch..?
when I'm in a set and have the record matched and cued, there is usually a minute or 2 in which I want to look for the next record, talk to the chicks;), or drink something/dance/whatever. In this time I stop the TT with the needle at the cuepoint.
I've seen many DJs do it just like this. |

Same thing here. If I cue up the next song and the playing song still has a while to go, I'll usually hit stop. When it's almost time to throw the cued record, I'll then hit start. I'll also backcue a couple of times to make sure it's still cued where it's supposed to be. It also helps me mentally "feel" the first beat.
I leave the turntables running when changing records though.

i also stop my decks during a set if i got 'em cued. energy, you have to start the decks again before you dj. they do not autostart. and it's a good idea to start it up earlier than when you want to so you can make sure it's in the right spot.

| I don't take long to beatmatch...think it usually takes me about 15-20 secs to get it synced. But when I have it synced I usually mix it in as soon as I can. If the playing songs has yet to come to a climix I fiddle around a bit with the crossfader...teasin between the two tracks...And when I have the whole transition done I scoop me up another record. |

i know that.. i didn't mean autostart when u play that first track..
cause the what the deejay did.. he just puted it on the cue point and then left it there...
and then he just touched the vinyl again and it continued |
