the US has a license to kidnap, secretly jail, and murder

what's to stop the US government from abducting people anywhere on the globe and secretly incarcerating them indefintely or secretly killing them?

first, there was the rendition program, that in practice is tantamount to kidnapping by US government.

then, there was the enemy combatant status given to US citizens on US soil, US citizens on foreign soil, and foreigners on a foreign soil. the US government has argued, successfully thus far, that this permits it to hold people indefintiely without access to courts.

is anyone safe?

if someone dissapears anywhere, how would someone know that it wasn't the US gov't behind the dissappearance because as i undertstand it, the detention could be indefinite and could be kept secret. doesn't this bother or anger anyone else?

It angers me but if you are like me than you know the last thing you want to do is bring any attention to yourself or give a reason for a the government or a government agent to frame you. See I believe that the government is nowhere near a regime like Stalin's and as long as it is not there than there is no reason for concern.

until you post again and you make your presence known, i believe that the possibility exists that the either government snatched you and sent you off to be interrogated in pakistan or that aliens are sticking a probe up your butt.:p

this isn't 1984. I seriously doubt we're that vicious and evil.

Hell yeah! If terrorists get to kidnap innocent civilians and execute them, so should we!

We've set free hundreds of Taliban fighters free whom we could prove nothing against in our courts...hardly "executing innocent people", like Terrorists have been doing.

they better have that license, I dont want some guy in the afganistan using certain religion to persuade people to blow themselves up in the name of allah. as for the prisoners of guantamala(sry for bad spelling), if 9/11 wouldnt happen and if they would capture muhamed Atta, and put him in cuba, then amerikans would say wtf? he has rights, but when something like 9/11 happens, then, smart people would find reasons to execute them. fuk rights for them. who do u think the terrorists are? they are not people, they are animals.

Isn't the whole point of the court system to determine innocence? Are you essentially saying we should bypass the fair trials and simply presume everyone guilty and execute them? They were set free because they were judged innocent - so what's wrong with that?
