I WISH I/My friends had enough money to go to Welcome this year :(
For those who don't know this is a NYE party at Melbourne docklands. I went to welcome 2000 - and that was cool, didn't go to 2001, but heard people say it went off.
Here's the lineup for 2002 so far:

ROOM: FUTURE 2002
John Digweed (4 hour+ set)
Mark James (future midnight countdown, retro docks set)
Sean Quinn (our house)
Kaysey Taylor (vapour recordings)
Tom Campbell (q bar)
Sam Fraser (republic)

PLANET HARDWARE
Sven Vath (Cocoon, Germany)
Richie Hawtin (M-Nus, Canada, DE9-Final Scratch, Dex, FX & 909)
Jon Terry (Theremin, UK)
Rich e Rich (hardware - belfast set)
Nick Demkiw (bamboo)
Will e Tell & SImon Digby (wetmusik)
Damian Laird vs. Scott Finemore
Dee Dee vs DJ Slack (teriyaki)
THE DEA Live (novatekk)
Steve Law LIVE (solitary sounds)
RSK & Ben Cromack (harware)

HARDBASS
Honeysmack (303% Live hard acid set)
Jason Midro! (Bass Station)
Scott Alert (hard kandy)
Ben Kakoshke (frantic)
Degenerator (team NRG)
Nexus (hard candy)
Hope vs. Ajax (hard kandy)
Master KAOS (team NRG)
Disco Stu (tema NRG)

TEKSTEP
Loxy (Metalhedz, UK)
Ink (Metalhedz, UK)
MC Pab (Adelaide, Aus)
Atom 1 (soundboy)
Rol-n (tekstep)
Trooper (groove therapy)
1LC (groove therapy, solaar)
Ruxspin (reeltime)
Beatski (tekstep)
Lex (reeltime)

What does everyone think? Do you reckon its worth going? (tickets $85 Au)
I haven't got the cash at the momentanyway but im just interested in people's opinions/predictions

PS. Apparently this is going to be the last party to ever be held at Melbourne docklands!!! cos they're being redeveloped with highrise apartment buildings or some :(
Renegade
^^Yeah I'm seriouly considering that. Watching Diggers play to tens of thousands of people would in itself be worth half the $85 entry fee.

Plus then there's Summer Dayze (is that what it's called?) on new years day, which has some pretty big names too - Sister Bliss for one. Can't remember the rest, but I have the flyer in my car so I'll look at it tomorrow.

Hopefully it'll be better than the past couple of NYE's, where we've left it until 5pm Dec 31st to start making arangements - both times we ended up pissing on in the city and watching the fireworks.

Yay.
