| I think reading a tutorial for trance music is only a way to lead you in the direction everyone has... Just try to do your own stuff... with your own style. |

| well as i've found out to my dismay going too much your own style wont get you signed. you gave to kinda stick to all the same thats getting released as its all labels are willing to touch. |

That kind of attitude lessens music everywhere. Don't do it. If you're music is good enough, great labels will beg to sign it. |

| not if its too obscure they wont. i know what i'm talking about as i'm just repeating the words of many a signed producer i know to talk to personally. you might not like that but thats the reality mate. |

| its not that labels wont sign anything but the generic trance sound, its that you suck at anything else besides that and have no good unique style of your own. you might not like that but thats the reality mate. :> |

You should treat others with the same level of respect with which you wish to be treated. There are many people/posts on here which I think are full of , but I would never resort to that kind of a cheap shot. (Incidentally, I haven't heard his tracks, I just think that your comment was wholly inappropriate no matter what they sound like).
Work on that attitude man. First you waltz in here asking for information that's very easy to find in the manual and lately you've been ting on all the other members. We don't need that kind of garbage on this forum, or any forum.
Having said that, I do disagree that labels are only looking for the generic trance sound. Maybe the HUGE labels like ASOT are only looking for that, but there are so many labels out there that all look for different things! So it's really impossible to claim that they're all looking for the same sound - there wouldn't be any competition in that case.
I've never bothered to submit any of my tracks to labels, personally, but I have no interest in generic or cookie-cutter music. The whole reason I produce is to try and push the envelope, even if it means that not everybody will instantly fall in love with those productions. I think that's what most of us here are doing - sure, we'd all like to have a hit record, but I think very few people would resort to pure pandering in order to do that.
And yes, those tutorials really do appear to be for cookie-cutter trance. They're good for beginners, but I hope nobody follows them to the letter. |

Heh - not to mention Squarepusher, Autechre, Amon Tobin, Infected Mushroom, Sasha, Future Sound of London... and what about BT? Sure you've all heard "Flaming June", but I think a lot of you could not possibly fathom the extent of his work (hell, he did most of the production for N'Sync!).
No, no - it doesn't matter how obscure your is, if it's GOOD, and you market it well, someone will want it. It's the obscure that sets the trends. The rest just follows them. |

| Diginut and RIP combine powers; with them, they can finally defeat arch-nemesis dannyc. It could be tough, though; they'll have to go up against a dannyuc, a superpower fully equiped with vengeance essential armor and a supersaw blaster. |
