You know? The one that's used all over progressive house and Goa alot? I'm not really sure what you do to make it, so can someone please help out :) thank you!

As great as your text discriptions might be.. I doubt you will get an answer unless you post a sample

ok. here's a good, recognisable example of what I'm looking for...

sine waves.

well I kinda guessed that - they use a filtered square too on top to get a flutey sound... but I'm just not getting a good result out of it...

I'm assuming your after that crystal/bell kinda sound? Sounds like its an arpeggio with a ping pong delay on it and a good dose of short reverb.

As for it being sine waves, I dont think so. Sounds more like a pulse or square. But I dont think the osc would be all that important with something like this.

The filter envelope would be more important. Play with that till you get a sharp plucked sound. Fast attacks, short to mid delays and sustains.

I'm hearing a slow LFO (or maybe short env, doesnt really matter)patched through to something too... filter cutoff perhaps? Though it sounds like the filter sweep is cutting through the delay too, so its probably an LFO on the delay as opposed to the synth itself.

maybe?? :)

Yeah that's the one :)
I'll try it again bearing in mind what you say... I think I've just detected they make the filter more wahish as the cutoff gets higher also.. so that's somn else to mess around with

Square+Sine

Fast attack - Low decay - 0 sustain + Low release

a bit of highpass filter. And effects that's up to you

wait, if the sustain is zero, then why would the release matter? wouldn't the sound amplitude already be at zero?

yes, if there is no sustain, there is no release too

Hey. I had a preset for the exact sound your looking for so I figured I'd upload it. Its from a plugin pack I'm working on for a bunch of different synths, this one happens to be for Linplug FreeAlpha. It isnt the best there could ever be but it will definately give you an idea of how to get the sound.

Sample
Preset
