K so I am a part time instructor now and I teach psy 101. I almost failed speech class in undergrad, so this will be interesting.
Well I am set on doing the stupid fill out this notecard with your name and some other info......so
wtf should I ask them?
usually people ask, name, hometown, major, fav movie fav tv, fav music....etc. etc...but I know you guys are more creative than that.

| ask them why they want to study psychology and ask them about what associations they have with psychology as a word and as a course of study. explore preconceptions on the first day and then after that just do the normal courseload bs |

have them summerize american history in 25 words or less and they must use the word bicycle ok 26 words.. let bicycle be a freebee
make sure you emphasize that they need to be detailed in their summary.. and to not go over 25 words or they automatically fail
a history teacher had us do this in high school and we all freaked out... b/c its so impossible.. |

Ask the whole class if anyone likes edm/trance/house/etc... And if someone happens to raise their hand, just go off on them about how much you know compared to them, and your gonna win DJ mag poll this year. :haha:

and its not that big of a deal. Pretty much every major here requires them to take psy 101, so I might only get like 2 or 3 psy majors in a class, if that. and I only have at max 36 students in each class.....2 sections.
and yea, preconceptions of psychology is a must ask the first week. Damn Dr. Phil for messing everyone up. |

but I like the must use a word thing. Maybe Ill pick out a word and have them use it in a sentence. |
