taste for trance...

Well about two years ago, I went to a dance club for the first time (in minnesota). Clubs around here play very commercial dance music and hiphop/pop also. So while I was at the club, I heard some songs like 'Hani - Baby Wants to Ride', 'Zombie Nation - Kernkraft 400', 'DJ Jean - The Launch', etc.. So that is what started my trance addiction. So when I go thru my old cds, I can deffinitly notice a change in my taste for music. My first few cds are full of bogous cheese songs, and then it gradually changes into melodic/uplifting trance. However lately, melodic/uplifing seems to appeal less and less to me. Now i'm hooked on Progressive and Goa. After thinking about it, i've come to the conclusion that in order for me to like a particular song, it not only has to sound good, but be intelligent as well. So i'm curious to know whats in store for me next?? Or am i going to be listening to prog/goa forever??? I'm sure a bunch of you have gone thru the same thing allready..

I think what you've gone through is what everyone here has gone through. That cheez-trance turns you on to it but soon you get into the good and more and more know whats good and what sux. Obviously your tastes are going to change over time and you'll forget certain kinds of music and get into other ones more. In terms of the new stuff, everyones getting into prog because thats pretty much the only stuff out there. If you want to listen to a lot of uplifting you have to go back to listening from stuff from 2000 or '99.

Main point: prog and goa are just what you like at the moment, before you know it you could be listening to something else
